I've never had trouble with the interior model, and the I-Pass works to well if you decide to go that route. I had my I-Pass wrapped up in my truck and buried and the stinking IL tollbooths still charged it when I went through in my truck.

Thanks for the help on this. I guess my EZ Pass has a low batt. Have had it for five years. They wanted $33 for a new one. I Pass said they need a $10 deposit for a transponder. Guess I'll go with I Pass as I live in Illinois and don't go east very much anymore.

I have the i pass. It works in all of the eastern states except the behind times Ohio. -
I had mine secured with velcro above my rearview mirror. I never had any problems with it being read. The velco allowed me to take the unit out of view when I let the car.
There where times i just kept it on the dash and it worked there too. It's a great conveniance to have at the O'hare back up! -
Wrap it in foil if you don't want the unit charged. Hope this helps!

Its funny this thread just popped back up, because we just had a major issue with our I-Passes. It kept denying them, and saying LOW BALANCE. Credit card company said the card was fine, I-Pass said it was the CC.
Our office worked all day Tues and Wed. We were told to pay cash and record it for a reimbursement, until they fixed it. I pulled up to my first cash toll, which also reads the I-Pass, and it popped open. They all came back online about 5pm Wednesday, because I called a couple other drivers who were still out and they said it was working for them too.
Called the office and they were still trying to get a solid answer. -
A few months after Il started accepting ezpass I went thru one of the non dedicated booths and it didn't pick up my tag. So I held it out the window and it STILL didn't pick it up. Lady in the booths says "we don't take ezpass here" I told her "######## I've been using it for months" after I dug out the change. Incompetence and corruption is par for the course in that goofy state, especially on the tollroad.
