Lol, we’re actually quite similar but opposite. I’m still driving, but local & liked OTR better. I climbed ladders & worked in attics in 100+ heat for to many years. As far as money, there’s a huge misconception about how much some OTR drivers are making, even the large companies in the flatbed sector.

You think the misconception is they make more than local?

It really all depends where you live I guess.

Your at a good place, you might have a few slow months, but in the long run it’ll pay off. Tip of the day, DM’s don’t won’t phone calls, QC messages, pick up & deliver on time & in a few years you’ll be wanting a break.

I figure top earners local & OTR are within a couple grand, all depends on what you want to do.

I heard Saia has driver facing cameras. I was looking into driving for them because they have a terminal in Austin close to home. But I dont like the idea of being recorded while I pick my nose. Its too Nineteen Eighty-Four for me.

So I had about a hour long chat with a former leader of mine who worked for one of the companies I’m interested in working for. Gave me some solid answers. And explains some of the things I was missing.

Yep, you can work 90 hours a week at minimum wage jobs and make more money than a truck driver, plus you get to sleep in your own bed at night, maybe even with a girlfriend lol. Trucking stinks.
