Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

grading is simple follow instructions and you'll pass. the thing is its in a small town and they only have 1-6 students a week so u will get all the focus u need the parking is simple and easy the road driving is very informative i because they prepare u for alot not every thing but alot. i drove up to tennesse on all small little back roads then back to Georgia on 75 so they teach u alot and job placement is great they give u a list of like 24 companies that hire from that school. not everybody is hiring student right now due to the economy but they do hire. i prob wouldve had more pre hires but im not working for less than 30 cents a mile unless thats my only option so i didnt apply to everybody and i only wanna do reffer or flatbedding and i choose reffer

So, after attending school in GA, did you have to lie about your location or were the companies accepting of a Florida location? My brother and I are looking into becoming drivers now.
I'm curious, also, when you apply to these companies from the school, do they simply reply with either a no or a per mile offer? If that is the case, then why not apply to all of them, regardless of what they supposedly pay drivers. Maybe it's a fluke, but that chick in the Werner thread said she started at .32 a mile when we have all heard they are offering 24-26 per mile.
I hope it isn't as difficult to get a driving job from FL. as this thread makes it seem or my thoughts of becoming a truck driver may be laid to rest. -

Truck driving is the LAST thing to be getting into right now, living where you do..You can and will make more money delivering pizza, with a class E license!!! HONEST !!!!!

What I had to do was use my cousin address and switch my license now lucky for me the driving skool provided a room at the hotel. Also every company I applied for I use his address now mind u the companies I applied to have terminals in florida so I would atleast have a chance of transfering. And about applying to all the companies u have a select choice in what I wanted to do and I called recruiters and asked detailed ?s about pay miles equipment etc... so when they say opnce im on my own ill make anything less than 30 cents I say have a nice day because my cdl is worth more than 26 cents a mile and about the chick u gotta ask her how many years exp she got. My daddy was a driver and so were a lot of my relatives so they gave good advice and my having a clean background shouldn't work for less than 30 cents. Now don't get me wrong if I could only go to werner then I would because that's the lifestyle I grew up knowing and wanna live but if I gotta choice ima get paid doin what I love
