Removing cab horns from W9

Should be nutserts on the inside that "should" allow you to turn just the bolt.

 

Some of the old ones you must pull the door seals from top side and find screws that hold headliner in and will be a bear to get out?

 

The air line. Pull it up as far as possible and cut it off. Then pull the air line down through the window post or fish it out of the dash from behind the left gauge panel. Worse comes to worse you will need to drop the headliner.

 

My 99 w900l has about 8 screws. Once you take the trim down, you can pull a little down on the edges and you can feel the buttons that are solid. The buttons will snap off and hide the screws. My girl friend helped hold it up when you get to the last few screws.. good luck.

 

I removed my horns on my '93 and added 4 more clearance lights. Actually put 9 new led lights on it. I ran the air lines from the horn valve back down the window post and rearward to my train horns mounted on the inside of frame and turned down. Works great for me. Have the post and lever valve in a 379 and I get seatbelts hooked on it pretty often. Yes the buttons pop off in several places in headliner and conceal screws. Pretty easy job.

 

I will look and see when I get home (likely this evening ) and report back.

 

Just pull down a little after you remove the trim. You will be able to figure out wich buttons are solid. Those will pop off, hiding the screws..
