Planning on getting a 2020 5700XE

    That's my biggest gripe. Why can't their factories put the interior together without scratching and putting gouges in everything?? Never had that problem with my Internationals and Freightliners.

    Both my 13 and 20 have marks all over the interior. And when there's gouges in the main dash structure, you ain't getting the dealer to replace that. Lord knows the issues you'd have later if they pulled the whole dash out.

    Ya, maybe I'm overly picky. But I just kinda like when a NEW truck is in good shape.

    I had my right dash panel replaced due to gouges next to each of the fasteners. It took the dealer a few tries to get the correct panel, but I finally got the gouged panel replaced.

    I had that with mine as well, tightened up the clamps and all was well. One clamp I had to replace because it wouldn’t stay tight.

    I hit a deer with mine last year and had the hood replaced. The dealer that did the body work said that now I wouldn’t have the paint peeling issue. He said that the company that makes the hoods had some issue with a product or the application of it that caused a bonding issue and that the newer trucks shouldn’t see that anymore. Oregon plant had the same problem with the tops of sleepers for a while too.

    4900’s are built using the same Freightliner frame and suspension as the 5700’s do.

    I had more build quality issues with my 4900 than my 5700 by far.

    My 4900 frame looks nothing like my Coronado 122SD frame?

    I haven't seen a Freightliner with tubular cross members yet.

    Neither one of my stars have had tubular cross members. They have a tubular front cab mount though.

    The frame on my 5700 is identical to the one my 4900 had. And supposedly the frame/suspension is built/manufactured right alongside the Cascadia’s.

    Hmmmm, not saying your wrong, I just never noticed that. Like I said my 13 and 20 Star 4900's have different frames than our 12 122SD.

    Different frames for different specs maybe?? I only remember reading when they first introduced the 5700 that it shared the same chassis with the Cascadia.

    Don't know if this means anything, but my two latest line sheets. Both 266 inch wheelbase heavy spec dump trucks.

    Star Frame:
    3/8X3-7/8X11-5/8 INCH DOUBLE CHANNEL 120KSI STEEL FRAME (3/8 INCH OUTER AND 1/4 INCH INNER)

    122SD Frame:
    7/16X3-9/16X11-1/8 INCH STEEL FRAME (11.11MMX282.6MM/0.437X11.13 INCH) 120KSI

    Oh ok. Well, we know when this new 4900 replacement comes out it will be nothing but a Freightliner with a W on the hood anyway. Which is OK by me because I had a lot less build quality issues with the Freightliner.
    But still......I prefer the looks, interior, layout and features of the Star. It is the closest thing on the market to the old school trucks I prefer.

    My biggest complaint on the freightliner is the paper-thin feeling doors and crappy door latches and handles.
