Are you having fuse problems or headlight problems?

What lights and what problem are you haveing?
Also a serial number usually helps.

    spsauerland Thanks this.

Aaaah yes a serial number ‍♀️ I can get that when I am near the truck again.

My front marker lights on the trailer and marker lights on the headache rack intermittently don’t work. However the more I think about it the headache rack is aftermarket and I’ll probably have some luck looking at how that got spliced into the wiring.

    I appreciate the quick responses!

I would have a dealer check the wiring harness from the chassis node to the front fuse box. I started blowing fuses and finally had lights go out with fuses not blowing. Evidently the 579 wiring harness is known for getting holes rubbed in wires when it goes over frame. It’s under warranty til 300000 miles. Mine was at 306 and I’m fighting with them over who’s gonna pay the 3000 dollar bill since it was obviously bad before 300000 and it’s a known problem.

If its the trailer and the headache rack whoever installed the rack probably put a junction box in the trailer cord in the frame rail. Start there

    Thekenzieann and spsauerland Thank this.

Has anyone had trouble with 2017-2018 Peterbilt 579 ABS wiring harness? I have 11 of these 579s and almost everyone of them is having wiring problems. Paccar has only covered some of the issues under warranty/policy and now they won't help at all. I'm considering suing them over my downtime, tow bills, etc. They want to charge me over $6000 to replace this wiring harness.

I just had to replace the harness from the chassis node to the fuse box because the way it’s set up, it runs over the frame and rubs a whole in it. Have you tried talking to one of their regional managers? They were going to charge me 2600 for my repair after they adjusted the bill a little. Got it covered by #####ing up a storm to the regional guy.

Yes, many problems from bad harness routing/improper securement. Not sure what is going on in Denton. Much better workmanship @KW in Chillicothe. He should of bought KW's @pushbroom!!!

Loom to hockey tape was an issue. Harnesses were 1500$ but there was a different one for every truck. They amalgamated 100's of harnesses to simplify the part stocking and also the price shot up to 5g a harness. Recently they have gone back to loom. Should be as good as pre 2017.

Id replace a harness every week if it meant i didnt have to drive a kw @spsauerland :)

    Goodysnap and spsauerland Thank this.
