hi guys, got the dreaded call from a dmv auditor asking to audit me next month. They mainly said the audit is for my ifta for 2 quarters of the last 2 years. Im really freaking out because my logs are complete ####. When i did my ifta reporting last year, i just estimated miles and gallons and had a guy do the calculations for me. Anyone ever get audited for ifta? I do have receipts but those dont match up as well either. Im scared because i know my logs will not match what i reported. I don’t mind paying if they find i actually owe more. I wasnt trying to defraud the govt or anything, just mainly lazy and horrible book keeping on my part.
Im 1 guy 1 truck with own authority. What kind of fines did they give you? I’ve heard that sometimes auditors just want to tell u what u did wrong and what to work on. But im worried, I just dont want to get put out of service or worse get some criminal charges because of my false reporting. Never got in an accident or anything. Always passed scale inspections.

I had a audit 2 years ago in TN, Gave them all my fuel receipts and drivers logs. They said I had to pay 58.00?, They just had to find something wrong to make money. My wife keep impeccable records, still got zapped.

Mods, I believe this is a double post.

They ask for records of logs and fuel receipts for so many months and years.
They'll take it all with them and calculate a bill for you to pay $200-$500 -
Not a bigf deal though- Just drop your Ifta reports and fuel receipts off to them..
I had one 1n 2010- I owed likei $26 dollars... Never needed my Logs for anything- just making sure your Paying your share to each state traveled(miles)
The guys saying you need logs dont know what their talking about- This is an iRP/IFTA audit- Not an FMCSA audit- -
Hire a cheap lawyer to make you feel better if your too nervous- But you should be fine UNLESS you really butchered things up and didn't care what you did where and when...Then your asking for trouble- Good Luck
Lesson here- You wanted your own authority- Did you think grossing $3-4k per week was the answer to just being an employee with Nothing to fear??? Put your big boy pants on.clausland, whoopNride, LoneRanger and 2 others Thank this. -
