hello, how did you resolve your situation? Did you ever get the clearance needed to get certified? i am in the same situation myself?
-
That guy hasn't been on this forum since 2018.
Which post are you referring to of his? -
He's not been back since the day after the original post. Think you'll be waiting a while for an answer.

Hello, thanks for responding. I was referring to his situation about admittedly using marijuana in the past two years when taking a DOT physical. I did the same and was told now I need substance abuse clearance. I am not a driver yet nor do I have a CDL but I want to become a truck driver. I do not use drugs but I have smoked marijuana within the last two years. I was hoping to get my permit and then go to school but now i have hit a temporary roadblock. I have faith that I will find an honest way to navigate through this trial. I do not believe that I should have lied. This is just another hoop for me to jump through, that's fine. I was expecting hoops, please does anyone know about "Substance Abuse Professional clearance" accepted by the FMCSA in reference to dot physicals?

@Moose1958 can help.
Even after passing the SAP program, don't get your hopes up. Finish SAP and start applying and best wishes. -
What does it mean to be cleared by an SAP? How did it workout for you?
-
Thanks for your input. My hopes will always stay up.
And I hope yours does as well. You spoke of SAP as if it is more than a one time evaluation that determines if I am or am not a drug user. What is it, what does it consist of, do you specifically know? I have heard that it is a letter of clearance given after an evaluation but from other sources it is referred to as if it is some type of rehab. Please, all points of insight are welcome, especially the person that has encountered this predicament first-hand.

SAP = Substance Abuse Professional.
It's the person that determines if you are an addict (still?) and is the person that will release you to work in a safety sensitive position if you are no longer doing drugs. Sometimes one can convince the SAP that it was a one time deal, sometimes the SAP is never convinced. Either way, if you lost your license because of a drug related charge, the only way to get back to driving is to go through the SAP program.
