This is international (Ireland, UK and Europe) and yes it is annoying when the truck you just flashed in does not acknowledge you.

I have seen to ways of aknowledgement, my favorite is right turn light to pull back in then left and right again for thankyou, i also know some guys use their hazard light for thank you. What is the common method here in the US?

I also find it saddening when a fellow driver doesn't respond. Most that don't are on the cell phone i have noticed. I currently only drive a tandem axle straight truck so i don't think the big boys really think i count cause i don't have a trailer so they don't acknowledge me when i flash them. My truck is very long for a straight truck and once in a while i will get the lights and i say thank you to those drivers that help me out. I don't think they teach helping out fellow drivers in trucker college.

From what I see in the U.S., it's common to not acknowledge anyone trying to help out another driver in regards to flashing. Saying thankyou and actually looking at each other in a truckstop and saying "Good morning", or otherwise acknowledge another person just isn't the thing to do anymore. Now a little further to the north, those are practices that are still happening. Sorry in advance to offending any sensitive type, but today has just not been a good day. Spent a couple hours helping another guy out, and never even got a scr$& you outa the ingrate.:biggrin_25510::biggrin_25510:

Is it common here to call people back in on the CB or does that not happen either?

Also do the drivers here tell you what's coming up down the freeway when they are going the other way?

Americans have become separated from each other, it's not just truck drivers. Lots of people don't even know the people living on thier own block anymore.

An yeah I'll flash my lights at night particuarly if the weather is bad. If the other driver don't flash his rears back, its no big deal. Maybe they are having a bad day or they don't feel like it.

Point is, concentrate on your driving, not getting mad/sad about a TINY little matter like this.

Too many drivers here seem to get thier feelings hurt way too easy. I grew up working in trucking and there is little respect shown by each other anymore, IMO. That's just the way it is in US trucking these days.

So few drivers have the cb on anymore, it's almost a waste of time. You're better off flashing them a blink.
As for road reports, you have to listen to the tone of voice now. Half these 'new breed' out here give false reports just for...heck, I dunno...I guess it just doesn't take much to amuse some people.

I was 'corrected' by another driver from my company for flashing. I was told "Our company does not flash other drivers due to liability issues if an accident should occur.'

Some guy wouldn't let me on the highway from the entrance ramp up near chicago yesterday. I come down the ramp, I'm going as fast as he is with only 10k on, and I'm about 2 feet in front of him and accelerating. Not only does he not flash me over or slow down a fraction, he tries to speed up. Well, the front of his truck was plastic and the back of my trailer is steel, guess who won.
