Well im thinking of buying a new truck in spring, going to be talking with a few dealerships in sask and alberta see who has the better pricing and who'll give me more for my beautiful low mileage 2014 388.
I am torn on going cummins or mx13 tho, i know lots of mx13s with over 1.2 million km on them never been touched.
My isx15 550hp hasnt given me trouble yet but my fuel economy has tanked and im a little down on power from where i was in summer.
My current rigs a 14 388 heavy spec isx15 550hp, eaton 18, 244wb 13600lb steer axle, 46000lb spricer rears with 4.10 gears on 24.5 rubber. Emission deleted with 18k of work done to it in the last 8 months, engine was rebuilt in 2016 with the updated pistons, liners and new head at 192k km now she's got 640k km on her.
Courious to know how many folk has over 500k miles on the x15 series?
Truck I'd be looking to buy would be basically the same spec truck with 3.73 gears 565hp and 256wb...intersting to know what its going to cost tho. My current rigs starting to nickle and dime me

I wouldn't run an MX13 if it was free, even the 2019/2020's. The Performance Series X15's have not had a single issue. The issues came from the first round of X15 Efficiency Series motors, however those issues have supposedly been figured out. All the big fleets I know, are now buying International LT's, T680's, 579's and even some Cascadia's and Volvo's with X15's. I don't know anyone except TransX, who is ordering the MX13 in large numbers.

    I have a 2019 VNL 760 D13/iShift. Next truck will most likely be a Pete 388 or 579 with an X15 565/2050.

The company i work for has either cascadias with dd15's or pete 579's with mx13's in them. I put 200k km on a 579 with the mx13 pulling hopper bottom b trains never had a problem with the mx13 until the ice roads in yellowknife nwt, tank froze solid and destroyed the def system (-60c can do that to a truck) and the guy that got it after me had nothing but def problems for 2 straight months after i bought my own truck.
Ive only got 2 gripes with the mx13, not enough power for pulling btrain and if you were to easy on it it went through def like no tomorrow. But the plus with the mx13 was it was dead reliable and knocked the socks off any other engine ive run in the fuel economy department, i got a consistant 5.9+mpg pulling loaded btrains. I never seen close to that with the dd15 in the company coronado's or cascadia's or 60 series with the freightshaker gliders.
I'm only able to get 4.8mpg out of my isx15 loaded and with winter fuel im down to 3.9mpg loaded. But i know these engines can do better, ive got 2 buddies running them doing the same btrain work getting 5+mpg loaded with winter fuel.
@BigHossCummins if you end up getting the 579 you wont regret it, i really liked that chassis for the year and a bit i was running it. Very comfy truck and it almost drives like a car.
Peterbilt discountinued the 388 model in 2016 and went back to the long hood or short hood version of one truck (389L or 389S) just like they did for the 379 series pete's. So iff you want a 388 you'll be relegated to the used market.

My experience with the MX13's, we we couldn't keep a DEF or DPF system in them period. Also they never meshed well with the Eaton Ultra-shifts, not sure how the paccar AMT's work out. You will love the X15. 6.0-6.5mpg on winter fuel, pulling 150K lbs all day long. Killer Jake Brakes, just a real pleasure to drive.

Yea I know about the 388, I just keep saying 388 instead of 389S.

I was hoping my isx would have been able to get that but it seems its just not in the cards currently, 4.10's aren't helping either. Planning on taking it right to cummins in the next week or so so they can do some testing on it, maybe try and pin point whats going on or at lest get an idea.
They improved the jake brake on the x15's over the isx's? That would definitely be nice, i hate wearing out my brakes.
The company im working for spec's all theyre 579's with 18 speed manual eatons and 3.73 rears. One thing i didnt like about the 579 is theres virtually no clutch feel.
The auto's in the freightshakers are horrendously terrible incase anyones wondering

Got nothing but good news to report on my X15. Has 130K miles about 4500 hours in the oilfield. Does a good bit of idle time as you can imagine but so far issues with the truck have revolved mostly around the A/C.

    What ac
What ac problems have you had? Mine shuts off for a few seconds to a couple mins then turns back on. Only when I start driving though. Once I'm down the road it works fine
