Stevens Transport

Ok, first day was a few seminars and most of the day was trip planning. Didn't get out until 10:30. Second day was road/backing tests in the morning and classes/written tests in the afternoon. More backing in the evening and I fell apart. Made one successful 45 out of 4 attempts. I still have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Noone seems willing to actually teach you how it works. I know what I want it to do, but can't seem to quite manage to get the trailer to cooperate. very frustrating. Today was more classes and testing in the class, went through compliance and got my log violations cleared. Tommorow I need to have my blood sugar and blood pressure tested again, then I'll be ready to ship out.

 

With regards to the contract,
It was obvious what the contract length was when they used outside financing and Stevens was a co-signer to the loan. However, I've heard that they are now doing the loan contracts in-house, so I'd be meticulous with the fine print. Maybe even go so far as to have it reviewed by you bank or lawyer if there is anything you don't understand.

Minimum 21 days and must drive 7000 loaded miles, deadhead doesn't count.

Hi Fozzie. This is Cracker. I have been reading your thread for a couple of days.

Congratulations on what you have accomplished so far.

This may sound strange to most, but if you will get a scale model (toy) of a 18 wheeler, it will help you to discover a lot about backing.

It will help because you can see how the trailer is reacting to what the tractor is doing. Like I said, may sound odd to some, but it has worked for most of the ones that I know have tried it.

Hello Fozzy. The toy truck has been just the trick for several people who have tried it. That seems to be the trouble with a lot of people, they will knock something before they try it.

The finishing phase is a great tool, somewhat. If you have a great trainer he will teach you the ropes you need to succeed. Make sure you learn the qualcomm inside and out. What messages to send and when to send them.
Ask him when is the best time to send for repowers. for example you have a 2000 mile load with 6 days on it. run the miles out and request repower.
Backing is tricky. that is why they focus so much on it. It is a neccissity in this industry.
I am with stevens in my finishing phase also fozzy, maybe we will meet up one day. I am native american, black glasses. Speak with me if you ever see me on the road.
