We have ABF here in the Rock, they tend to be pretty quality. Again I refuse to haul doubles so there is that.

Working the grave yard shift will put 10 yrs on your face in 2 yrs time but a young man that wants to sock $ away for a down payment on a house for his family. (((Boom )))...there it is

My point is : there are still ways to make a buck in this industry but the young driver still needs to take the time to research his / her options

Your CDL and MVR should always be protected NO MATTER WHAT ( if you have a clean record will live to fight another day)

You can't have alot of job history on record if you want to land one of these prime jobs so - DON'T WASTE TIME. taking chances on garbage trucking outfits. (easier said than done)

I just hate to see young folks throw away something they can still use , i know trucking is no where near what it used to be , but i have done alright with it although it hasn't been anything to write home about , of course i didn't want to invest in equipment because i just couldn't live without my babies even though they have their own lives now ,i still get to drive my wife nuts every night and weekends are mine

Ive been rather lucky with my health despite the near constant all nighters and smoking. It's only now in the 50's Im starting to break down, turn grey and so on in aging. No matter how hard the work, I tried to take joy in it. Good manual labor and trials and tribulations tend to ease a troubled mind. (If I had any at all in the beginning.) When the stuff was moving along with the physical labor, the body's problems didnt matter. Things were getting done. That's one of the reasons Im sober 30 plus years, the drinking early on to ease the day and clear out the ows for tomorrow o dark early got to be a bit too much back then.

May was bad in 2003 when i joined (there was a couple of great dispatchers in Payette though). I was out by 2005 and don't regret it.

I worked for May as a company driver 6 months before taking a lease purchase. Paid off on time, got clear title. Then did a second lease purchase, paid off on time. Got clear title in my name. May is honest in their business dealing and following the contract. What Frank Speak said about their facilities is accurate. I retired in 2009. I don't know how elog will / would affect profitability.

I briefly considered them back when I was fresh out of driving school back in 2011 when I lived in Portland since they were not too far from home. They seemed like a pretty typical mega carrier so I went and tried out with Watkins and Shepard in Missoula and got on with them for 6 months before I came back home and got an LTL dock bumping job.
