I got a pre-hire from Werner just because I was talking to Roadmaster. I havent even attended. Got the pre-hire packet this week.
-
Go to the Werner website and apply. I did that and they called me same day. I havent even gone to school. There is a spot on the app about where you are attending school. I'll bet you they call you.
-
Best of luck with Werner. The fact that they prehired you so quickly, without even being in school, shows that the company will be dedicated to you and your needs. And that Roadmaster has the utmost highest standards of privacy with your information.
And really...do you have to rub it in on the guy? Man... -
No, I was telling him because all he has to do is apply. Dont sit around and wait for them to come to you. Go to them. I applied online and they called. I think if he applies online that they would call him. I dont mean any disrespect. He wants to drive...go do it.
-
I applied at Werner, TMC, and Stevens and not a word from any of them.

Thanks for the info I'll do that, passed my pre trip and road test Thursday got my CDL today.

Do you mean a lease contractor? Or owner operator with your own authority? either way credit markets are tough right now...If your going to be a lease contractor any of the buy here/ pay heres (arrow truck sales ETC) will want to know the name of the company you intend to lease to...Your lack of current knowledge will keep the big boys away from you (G.E capital, Wells Fargo, PACCAR ) keep searchig for a company job is my advise, freight is starting to move again...Good luck!!!

Look around this forum, and you will find many drivers here who were suckered into lease purchase, and went broke.. Company driver is the best way, and only way right now for someone who just got their CDL. Don't be fooled, because in the end your the one who could end up loosing everything, not the company. -
My advice to anyone in CDL school now is start doing your own research and start thinking how you can apply to a company you want differently than all the rest of the students. Remember the school and the recruiters are NOT working for you. Go out and see the companies and talk to a few drivers. Ask how many drivers retire from that company. Your best bet is to find a company that DOESN'T even advertise because they don't need to. That's when you get lucky and really start to learn how to drive for a living.
You can also make your application look better too by taking an additional 1 or 2 day defensive driving course like the Smith System. It will cost you but you'll be ahead and at the top of the list if your record is spotless. You've got to stand out if you really want the job.
