That and try to avoid going back there with your shoes on at all. I have a pair of slip on and off shoes (like Sketchers) but if the weather is crappy and I am wearing my boots or sneakers I take the time to get them off before going anywhere in the truck further than where my feet rest while seated in the drivers seat. I admit that sometimes it is a pain in the butt but to me worth it in the long run.
I also carry a container of cleaning wipes and have a little broom and dust pan. I hate my truck being dirty on the inside. Outside too but I have less control over that beyond our once a month wash.

Do you still need an empty? Im at the Racine pilot was told to drop my empty at the Brewery and bobtail to Richfield. If you want to send dispatch a msg and see if 20015 can just bring the empty there I'll be leaving here at 1230am. Just an idea

For detention do you have to get someone to sign the times in/out? Went to pick up a load of bottles in Toano VA, and the person in the front office reversed the last two numbers on my load number and I never could get the papers to print in that cage with the ipad you have to go in. Dock workers intentionally ignored me for the longest time while I tried to wave them down, and it took him about 45 minutes up front to figure it all out. In the end they just gave me the different load saying it was the same glass going to the same place... Whatever - I'll let dispatch work that out in the morning.

If they will sign the bills with in/out times then yes it's always good to get it. However if they say no or get pissy about it, dont worry about it you will get detention regardless if bills are signed or not.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that poor guy has lost his safety bonus forever. I was of the belief that the really high dollar accidents like that didn't get put on the report. I know that not too long after I went solo, one of the regional guys laid one over and even though I saw the wreckage in Albany (It's still in Cartersville) I never saw mention of it on the report.

So I took a chance today that actually paid off. It seems like usually when I do, it backfires on me. After my b-service that didn't happen, I got a load going from Neenah to Saratoga Springs. Picked it up early yesterday morning and it was due 1500 tomorrow. Well even my still-semi-rookie ### can do better than that. I know that Essity will take a load early as long as they have an empty, and that's not always guaranteed in Saratoga Springs. But I took that chance and got it there a full day early, and luckily enough, there were empties. Which was a good thing because the guy told me that if there hadn't been one, they were too busy to live unload me until my appointment.

With that being said, I have a couple of questions:

    1. What's the best way into Essity coming from the West? I've always just come up 87 to Exit 11N like I was coming from the south but that looks like it adds maybe 20-25 miles to the trip.

    2. In the event that they hadn't taken me today, what are my option for places to stay overnight? I know I can park there but is there a truck stop north of there on 87 or anything? I wouldn't have enjoyed hanging out in the Essity drop lot for a full 24 hours if they'd made me wait until my appt.

Wilton Travel Center aka Scottys Restaurant. I87 exit 16. A few miles north of Saratoga. Its actually between Finch Paper in Glens Falls and Saratoga. Large parking lot, good restaurant, usually has parking later into the evening towards the back. Has a CAT scale for those Finch Paper loads. I'll give you my route up to Saratoga from the west in a separate post.
