I'd love to do an RV conversion out of a truck one day. Take the fifth wheel off and use the entire frame for the, um, "sleeper". :biggrin_255:

That would be sweet. I would like to do one on a Petet 379 chassis or a W900 one.

    Heres a couple:

    That 389 is pretty.

Also, I can understand the FedEx Custom Critical rig. Run your backside off and then sit for three days...I'd want the creature comforts, too.

That looks like one of those deals where somebody runs a small fleet leased to Fedex and hires drivers to work the rigs.

I suppose it could be a single O/O, though.

Oh yea. I have a '05 379 Pete 300" wb with a 120" Double Eagle sleeper and it's orange. I do not pull for either of the two you talked about. I pull a 48' dry van and can load 41000# in the box. It is no harder to drive than any other truck I have driven in the past twenty years or so.
Do the cost much? Yes but for what I have not that much more. I have had it for less than five years and it's paid for. Wife and I run a team and leased to Landstar. This set up has worked for me but would not work for everyone.

I saw another thread about the government suggesting we haul longer trailers. Forget that! Hook us up with some condo's!

Interesting thread folks. Just realized the problem with these rolling luxury sleepers, they add so much weight that with the cost of fuel and rates of freight you can't make any money right? Unless you have some ultra exclusive cargo as stated earlier. What if a guy had one of those new CNG motors coming out? Many stations around the country I see now and prices from $1.50 to $2.60 a gallon.

And to think, this was back in the days with limits to overall length!

Still you never see brown & gold anymore. I had an old Jeep that color (yes it was a 79), I'm so tired of silver cars and white trucks.

There is a class of RV called "super C". Regular class C motorhome is built on a van chassis. A super C is built on a freightliner chassis.

I am a young guy at this but there are big companies such as Schneider that do run big sleeper trucks but they are owner ops. The other day I say a forward air truck with at least a 120" sleeper.

There is a company that converts the 86" sleepers to have the creature comforts that are so nice
