I do 70 cars on an average week running up and down the east coast and still get past the house 3-4 times during the week and on Sundays. Depending on what you want to call local, I'll leave the house in South Jersey, deliver 9 cars to New York, pickup a load in Jersey City, deliver that around Philly then run back to Baltimore to do it all over again. I usually do that 2-3 times a week then single loads the other days. 8 loads=72 cars. It's not that hard.

"The ONLY good part of that FLEECE was the truck loan was not in my name.
So when they "repoed" it I didn't have that ding on my credit."

That is a good thing on the credit side of the line, but ya know it is a wonder there aren't more trucks ah~hem parked inside of some office buildings. ;)

I am still naive & try to think the best of people, but things like that will make that naive issue go away in a hurry. Sorry for the off topic stuff.

Well yeah I see your point.

But why take a bad situation and turn it into a criminal one?
Me personally...I"ve got too much life to live to want to "enjoy"
it from the backside of the cell window bars.

Hey Rainman, how is it at Pmtg lately? My husband may be starting orientation with them soon. They require 2 weeks now- 1 week orientation in Michigan & 1 week in the trucks in Ohio.I think that is different than it was in the past? Which do you do -local or regional. We've read that local is the best position but wondering if demand isn't kind of low right now, especially stuck in one delivery area. The recruiter said it's 2-3 cars per delivery. We spoke to someone last november and it was 3-4 cars per delivery then. Also, the recruiter says that there was a pay cut of about 5%.Any info you could give us would really be appreciated!)

My best week in terms of cars was 100 cars in 7 days.

Then I got a new job

Right about now we are bumping, do a 300 mile trip, 8-10 cars, one stop pickup on the way back, multiple unloads(usually), way down is opposite, usually 2 pu locations.

I make 450-700 per trip, and have averaged $2700 a week for the last 3 months.

Good thing is most are not smart enough to haul used cars, it is not the easy union jobs where you haul the same load every trip, every trip for me is different, sometimes similar, but different.

It is a specialty, as I have said before, if you are in trucking to make money, you need a specialty, anyone can drive a truck 500 miles and bump a dock, you actually have to have some smarts to perform a specialty in this industry.

I hate seeing all the wanabe car haulers with their 6car trailers behind a standard tractor, It is watering down the rates recently, as well as these union companies doing "back-hauls" where they do the work for 40% of the going rate to pay for fuel.

I live near I-80 and most of what I see is the 6 or 7 car haulers. Very few 9s and 10s any more.

Hi Going Long...Yes, he went through the training and has started working already. He likes the job.One of the guys he trained with just quit. That guy lived in Pennsy and was collecting 700.00 unemployment.Guess he thought the hard work wasn't worth it.You sure need more than that to live on where we're from! lol.It seems like a good company so far & an intelligently run one as well.He was an Owner/operator for 12 years...before that he had a REALLY good company job but they dissolved the transport area & outsourced it to O/O's.Being an O/O put us in a lot of debt and he worked 120 hours a week. This job is a little hard at first but it's great compared to the O/O gig!lol. You will need all endorsements and twic card.My husband had all of that plus knew how to drive and load just about any kind of truck & trailer. He's done it all. They do train so you on their specific trucks so you don't need to know how to do car hauling ahead of time & I believe you can just get the twic card if you don't have already..no problem. You need class A ,of course! ,& doubles, triples ,hazmat endorsements. If you have any specific questions, just ask.
