Werner Enterprises based in Nebraska is the best company I've worked for hands down.

When I started orientation, the class lasted a few days in which we've covered all the usual basics of safety, safety, safety! I was assigned to a trainer with no delay at all.

The trainer was actually quite helpful during the time in his truck. He seemed very knowledgeable and very patient. Hell, he even smelled good all of the time also. I've learned many basics of handling a big rig from my oh so patient trainer. My trainer seemed enthusiastic about his job. He wanted to train new drivers simply because he loved to teach, and wasn't in the training division for the money. Speaking of money, the training pay was not bad either. I was well compensated at $300 a week, more than enough to pay a $1200 mortgage, a car payment, and insurance. Anymore money would have been too much.

I finished my very short time of 13 weeks on the trainer's truck. It seemed to fly by very fast. After passing all of the required tests, I was assigned my own truck. The previous owner of the truck left it in very good condition. The truck was so clean that I could have performed a white gloved inspection inside of the cab with no visible traces of dirt. I was very happy.

I was assigned my first load soon after. I was given directions over the qualcomm which always made complete sense. Long story short, I completed my first haul with no frustrations at all. My only complaint was that I really wished that the qualcomm would have automatically placed me on duty status 4 more often while I was driving on line 3, or asleep on line 2. Speaking of paperless logs, the logs department is god and everything automatically recorded on the qualcomm is always correct. I was doing myself a favor to memorize that. Hell, I even threw away my FMCSR book because it was irrelevant compared to what the log department always told me. They are always right, and the FMCSR book is the devil!

I worked on the 48 state division making 26 cents per mile. This was too much money I thought. So, I was invited to work a regional account. Now I make an excellent wage of 21 cents per mile with over 3000 miles per week. I drive between 9 to 11 hours a day. I am never tired and always allowed a reset after 8 days. (But remember: the FMCSR is the devil! Don't read it ever. No one in the company does. Why should you?) This makes me very happy. For every 500 miles that I drive is about 100 dollars earned. I don't care about my money, as long as the company steals it from me with all honesty.

The dispatchers (also known as fleet managers) really cares about their drivers. They will never push you to run in hazardous conditions. I really love how smart the dispatchers are also. Albert Einstein would be put to shame by the intelligence of Werner's dispatchers.

Why work for any other company making too much money? That doesn't seem right. Come help line the pockets of the already well-compensated.

So, come work with Werner. This is a good company to work for that places its interests in driver safety above customer satisfaction.

Oh yeah, stop referring to Werner as the Big Blue Screw. It is offensive. Instead, call it the little blue catheder. Much more appropriate.

I would have stuck with the 48 state OTR until a dedicated position that pays more than 21cpm opens. I know from recent post(s) positions exist. I am happy for you. Did you take pictures of your truck when you were issued it? Does it have a APU?

I guess the complimentary crack they give you in orientation is working. :)

Negativity is never allowed here on this forum. Someone's feelings may be hurt. For those of you who read between the lines, I ask this one question: Why aren't you enrolled in college? With my obvious hidden explanation that highlights my "positive" experience with the field of trucking, I am ready to move on to something better and pursue an education in either the IT field or electronics engineering. I love driving, and working for free for such a "nice" company doesn't cut it. For you 10 to 20 year trucker veterans, I have the upmost respect for you.

Its easy to tell someone to "just quit" and find another company, but when most of these companies constantly raise their experience requirements 3 to 5 years at a time, that puts people like me that actually care about the industry in an unfair bind.

To the guy going with team werner, please research more before making your final decision. As I've said before, its not my place to talk negative about such an awesome company. This company rules big time. Best company in the entire nation bar none!
