Ranger,
Lets just say that they were getting paid $20.00 per hour with O/T after 8 hours (I don't know what master freight pays). Take 20% away. You are now down to $16.00 for straight time and $24.00 for O/T. What does an average OTR driver actually work during a given day? Lets just go with a conservative 11 hours. The Union driver would make $200.00 for the day. How much do you think an OTR driver makes during that 11 hour period? I will even give you 10.50 hours of driving with a fifteen minute pre and post trip.
I think it still is a better deaL to work Union. Care to disagree?
Drive safe
How much of a pay cut would you accept?

Now if you're running around on the east coast, I see your point completely...hourly is better. -
Tell them "No, I'm not allowing that"?

Everybody is being asked to take a reduction in pay. The only people excempt from those cuts...are the "leaders" aka Union Boss and political dirtbags we call Congressional members.
Union or not....the little people bear the brunt of the cuts. While the elite, vote themselves raises on a regular basis to maintain their lifestyle. -

I've been working off of a 10% cut for the past 2 months and it sucks. Can't do anything about it. Just have to tighten the budget at home until things get better. I can't quit, where are you really going to go? When starting a new job, it takes 6 months or more to truly start making the money you made at your last employer unless you really had a crappy paying job before. And the real kicker is, my company is asking us to recruit 15-20 drivers to run the northeast. I don't think so!
jlkklj777 Thanks this. -
Still get seniorty raises until top out.
But at the same time, they have opened up three new terminals in the last year.
Not enough profit for a raise, but enough profit to expand? Doesn't add up.
