those 40's are tuff i see guys haling 130,000 0n them all the time but they have easier run's than me less mountains less off-road than what i do ..........as long as temps are good no slack in the yokes just run her ..........they arent to expenseive at all if you decide to pull them i think a bearing kit is around 500 each or so (ballpark) may have to replace axle gears, cross, if you have alot of wear ...........they should last well over a million mile unless you get in a bind somewhere lol

The power divider will probably go first. If you have temp gauges that actually work, keep an eye on them, otherwise check temp manually after running awhile, if they are getting hot a failure is coming sooner rather than later.

Keep in mind, these are from the days when a 400 was a big motor. I ran SQHD's for a long time with a pretty hot motor and the only problems were the power divider. I did blow the front one up pretty bad once but that was due to a nut backing off inside in the power divider. My uncle ran pretty much the same setup as me and he was pulling his apart every 6-8 months. His driving style was hammer down and hard on the brakes. I never tromped down hard unless I was already rolling. He would always beat me from a dead start but I could catch him on the hills. We used to have a lot of fun truckin'
