Have a 1100 appt for a live unload in pomon ca tomorrow.
The new flying j is now open. Draw a d's and riverside intersection. Most likely be as packed as the others. Haven't been there yet.

The DLs in Richmond never planned their drivers so far as I know. It wasn't worth the hassle of making enemies with DLs/planners in other areas. My DL would just look at what was available and ask the planner. The answer was almost always "no" unless you had a home time request, and even that wasn't a guarantee since everyone knows they can game the system with them.

Delivered that load to pomona ca then picked up a load in perris ca and Tcalled it here
Winds are bad in the area and driving empty to perris ca wasn't fun lol.
Dl asked me if I wanted to do that shuttle run starting this Thursday.
I am off tomorrow for a post op appt with the doctor.
He said it's Tuesday thru sunday with Monday doing a 34.
    3 round trips.
    About 2700 miles a week.
Picking up a load here in so cal and switch loads in beaver ut then delivering it in so cal somewhere.
He said I miss most of the snow crap.
Guy I am replacing wants a local run since he has a family.
    Said ok.
Said route would change if the guy co.img from colorado decides to go south due to snow.
That why i switched with that driver in Lupton az. Snow was bad going over the 70 so he went 25 to 40.

I delivered early Saturday afternoon, and the next pplan didn't pick up until Monday.
After calling a DM and being told that there was nothing until then I took it.
Just as well, as I spent Sunday stalled because of the snow in the KC area.

I have until Wednesday to deliver, which is good as well.
The snow was still around on Monday so I got a late start today. I stopped a bit early today because the roads were starting to ice up with freezing drizzle. I stopped here at the TA in Mt. Vernon, MO.
My load delivers just south of Atlanta, GA, so from here I can't make it by Tuesday.

A couple hours after I got here there was an accident right in front of my truck.
I heard the air horn going off for a couple seconds and then heard the crunch.
When I looked out there was a truck that was pulling in to a fuel island with another, possibly trying to get in to the one to the right of that truck, and they made contact.
I presume the truck in back was the one laying on the air horn.
Who knows which driver will be held responsible for that accident, but it seems to me that the following truck was way too close and too much in a hurry.

It was that way just before I pulled in here.
Roads icing up and trucks lining up way too close behind each other passing safer drivers in the right lane, when the left lane had even worse conditions.
    The mentality boggles my mind.

Given that area id bet it was a sheet of ice too. I hate hitting winter conditions east of the Rockies. Its always ice.

Gonna keep an eye on it out here, tomorrow, allegedly Snoqualamie might behave. But ive heard that story before.

East or west of the Rockies, those mid-temp conditions can produce ice very quickly.

When I see ice forming on my windshield in a light drizzle I slow down. If traffic in front is slowing more than me, I do the same. No hurry in those conditions, and maybe they are being smarter than me.

But so many trucks, and a few cars, are always in a hurry.

Sorry, but I do not place my trust in truck tires for traction. They are simply not designed for those conditions.

    Sumner. Clean running all day.

Yeah the icing thing im always monitoring. Thats the big deal breaker for me.

But, it dont change the fact that id rather hit snow near Wells NV than Indianpolis.

Anywhere in UT for that matter vs anywhere in TX when one hits. Or WA vs MO. And ill definatly take OR over New England in the winter. If for no other reason than sheer traffic density.

I get where your coming from. I just know where I would rather see a winter storm. And Chicago is none of those places. (Though i suppose no faster than you can get across chicago its no big deal lol.)

Where as SLC, will nearly have the roads completely clean by the time you roll out of bed. Though that early morning right turn out of west valley is always fun. (Every bloody time, spin spin spin.) Then you hit the 201 and oh my, drivable pavement.

that ticket should go to the customer, PERIOD. they signed a legal document affirming and attesting to the weight. if I got a ticket for that much, I'd fight it in court, and if I lost and the state wouldn't negotiate it down I'd probably quit driving trucks & weigh the cost/benefit of just refusing to pay. Not gonna pay extortionate fees to do my job.
