Dispatch sends a trip mon at 8 pick up is at 5 700 miles total with an appiontment for 1 pm weds.
piont is just because u can do 600 miles a day doesn't mean it rolls that way all the time. thats what I mean about appiontmens, 700 miles in three days.
To be truthful with watkins u might have to sit on that envelope for the week after thurs that envelope goes on the week after next check, or u can fed ex it for 15 or $20.

jw u will never get facts on this forum from watkins drivers. Danc will give u what he knows about the company but thins have changed , plus he's beeen gone for awhile. S2B straddles the fence, wing ding is now useless for any bad info he has pom poms.
-
It works kinda the same way commission works for a salesman, the company has to receive the report before the commission is payed, and in this case the Bill of Lading or similar
-
And halfburn is certainly no help

ok... i personly no nawlins, and im not sure how someone with itty bitty tiny otr drivig at w.s is able to give " the facts of otr " when he has done mostly shortline work out of sayreville, when things got slow they sent him otr, then in a short time he was back in sayreville running the shortline again..nawlins how much time have you spent as an otr driver at watkins shepard?? im curious to no.
as for the 32k a year, yeah, they may be true on a base figure, but in a few others that pay extra and you can make more then just 32k a year,
running I5 can actually get you great miles, did it myself, for 2 weeks and had over 3k miles each week. its how well of a worker you are that will be the deciding factor for how many miles a week you get, if ur lazy, disp will not give you the good runs, its a fact of the industry, if your a worker who never uses the word NO to disp, then youll be treated good and youll be givin the loads, they say its first in first out, NOT TRUE!, IF 2 of u are sitting at the same place, guy 1 lazy, guy 2 runner, then guy 2 will get the better load even if guy 2 showed up 5 hours later, he runs, he gets the load. its being dependable they count on and look for. they say they want 10k a month, or 3k a week, yeah sometimes its hard to get those miles, figure more around 9,000 give or take is more like it. 10k is possiable, but it comes down to how well you do for disp. just the way it is,
im guessing here, and its only a guess, but when nawlins was OTR for his short period that he didnt always do as he was asked, or he may have gotten mad over a 200 miles run and let disp no he was pissed off, therefor making it not so good for him on the recieving end, he prob didnt get the miles he was " promised " and so on, so he had a bad experience otr with the company, and when he got back to his otr position, he was happy again for a short period when he was told it was otr or quit, and then decided to stay and do the same work for less pay, and then settled back in with the now same less paying job, and then they took the .01 from him/us, and decided that it was the final straw for him, and realized it was time to look for a new job that pays more and allowed him to be home more,
nawlins is the type of driver that wants to be home all the time, and still enjoy his passion of driving a big truck, but wanting to be home all the time kept him back from doing otr, therefor ended hating his job where he was only getting less then 2,000 miles a week.
nawlins sorry it didnt work out for you as a underpaid short line driver, but as far as people coming here to learn facts about the company on the OVER THE ROAD level you should prob leave it to the drivers that post here to answeres the question about being and OVER THE ROAD driver here,
yeah i post a lot on here, but i have been otr way longer then you have, and prob ever will.
and i am aware that i have less otr exp then a lot of people that post on here, but im on here more often then they are so i put in my .02 the very best i can. -
Let's stay on topic in here. This thread is not about who is a better driver or who's opinion matters the most.

well put rookie

S2b 2-shay my friend 2- shay.
Newbs I was told 1 thing in particular when jioning this industry, get exp. have no tickets, and no accidents you pretty much choose ur own career. Notice word career!! You do that u could be home everyday and not on an off ramp, and u rack up .42 cpm not .31. me being bitter for wanting more ohh well -
Are 200 mile runs very unprofitable? I know you only have the clock in front of you to work with, and you want most miles for the $, but if your next trip is a 2K mile run won't you recoup that? Looks like they would have the consideration to book you for a long after a short to make some time or $ up for the week. If you take every run, and they keep you running, hey, as long as I get ok for the week / month, right? I'll be the first to confess I'm speaking of something I'm completely unfamilliar with...my experience consists of hauling landscaping (sod, straw and timbers) and not OTR (yet) so I've asked (too) many stupid questions. BTW, not to get off topic again, but based on a 2200 mile week, .42/m vs. .31/m does add up to around $14.5K yearly. Uh oh, did someone say we can't do math on here...I'll stop. Seriously though, I'm greatful for everyone's assistance on here. If it wern't for the experienced drivers in all areas of the industry, we'd have no information to grow with. Thank you guys. God bless all you folks who are "out there." Be safe.

I got jumped for "the math" yet I see people saying "this company isn't giving me miles" and "that company treats me like crap" and that seems to be ok in everyone's book. I don't get it.
