    Hi everyone,

So I was looking around at different CDL schools as I'm interested in being a OTR driver. And I applied with Roehl about a month ago, because they seem like a good company, got a call from a recruiter about a day later. Who looked over my application and said she was interested in moving forward. (Interview) (getting CDL permit)

Well I just called her back today and we had a phone interview and everything went great I think, I don't have anything on my background, and I don't have any major driving offenses just speeding tickets.

She said I would be driving National? Flatbed to the lower 48 states. At .425 cpm for a new driver.

I told her I was recently terminated from a former company who I was with for about two years and she said the recent termination (October 5th) might be a problem because it was very recent.

Should I apply with other trucking companies as well? I hope the recent termination isn't an issue. (It wasn't violence related, but I wasn't told the reason as I live in Nevada, companies can fire you for any reason out here)

    Thanks everyone,

    Steve.

Yeah, Nevada is an "at will" state and can be fired for no reason at all.
    Where are you in Nevada?
There's other choices besides Roehl anyway.
Prime Inc. won't hire a driver that's been fired either.
Here's a flatbed outfit that might hire you and their CDL school is in Montana. Run 48 states & Canada.

You don’t know why you were fired? That would keep me up at night...

@Chinatown I'm in Reno. And okay thanks I'll take a look at Jonas Brothers.

@Hazmat Cat Nope, I asked too and they said they weren't allowed to disclose the reason?

Same thing happened to me one time. "At will" state doesn't have to give you a reason and won't because it's legal.

If asked why you were fired, either during job interview, or on job application, say, "I don't know because Nevada is an "at will" state and not required to say.

Roehl is a good company, been around a long time. If they ask next time, tell them, "well, technically, I quit just before they fired me",,I think if Roehl questions it, it doesn't look good for you, sorry. New companies aren't going to look into it, if it comes up fired, they will move on to the next. They just can't take a chance. Insurance is the king of all now.
