I am a tow truck driver in Idaho. I had to return to a call for contact information. I pulled into a driveway to back out on a two lane road made sure road was clear etc. I was done backing out and was straighting out my wheels heading west bound when a car came flying east bound. She saw me locked up her wheels, started swerving and hit back end of my truck in West bound lane. I got cited for unsafe backing but when she hit me I was no longer backing and was in my lane. I'm nervous about losing my job and being held at fault. Her husband then showed up after she hit me and was screaming acting a fool so I waited in the truck until state police came. They took my statement then gave me a citation. I'm going to fight the citation I don't personally believe I'm at fault she came into my lane. My truck was also hit by a drunk driver parked in front of my house about 4 months ago. I have only been driving truck for roughly 6 months. Am I in the wrong? Am I going to be fired? Should I fight the ticket or should I just pay it? This happened in Idaho.
Unsafe backing? Idaho

So she missed the front of your truck and side swiped you? I’d really have to wonder how fast she was going .. make sure you draw good diagrams while it’s fresh in your memory and stick to whatever story you told officer. PS what if you were a stopped school bus is it the bus drivers fault

Well if she locked up the wheels then there should be skidmarks. Police have tools to measure skid marks and can accurately estimate which speed car was going. If u believe u were not at fault then fight the ticket. Were all truck drivers here so we understand the crazy frickin ppl out there and i would believe what ur saying. Make sure to draw a picture of what happened and explain ur side in court. Good luck to u and thank you for ur service as a tow truck driver. Be safe out there.

Husband is looking for easy money in a lawsuit.
There's a 100% chance he's going to sue the company you drive for.Pamela1990, RedRover, BigDog Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Why you should always roll with a dashcam. And running a dragon wagon, I'd have one covering your six, as well.

So you pulled in a driveway and backed out on to the road and that's when you got hit? Always back first, you can't see what's coming when backing. You can clear the driveway as you pass it to back in but you can't clear a active road.
Back first.
I'm I'm reading it correctly that's why you were issued a ticket and why I said is what the police, judge, lawyers, anyone involved is going to say.
