$70 Million Payout

That's an impressive amount that the family will never see.

 

How much of that $70 mil will they collect? I don’t think this guy was driving for a major carrier. Most likely an O/O with a few thousand in his account.
If his license was suspended did he even have insurance and who would insure someone with more that a dozen accidents before this one?
Locking him up for a few years would be better for society.

i recall a lawsuit many years ago, where the clients lawyer attached so many addendum's to a payout, like if the guilty person wins the lottery, the client wins the lottery, like if the guilty gets a job, the client gets his job's pay, or something like that.

no, the family will never see that money, and if that trucker is not a US citizen, or was not born here, he will most likely flee to his country, change his name and come right on back in.

this will always be an ongoing problem when states hand out CDL's to anyone.

this also (to me) speaks of the MASS accident where that driver killed all those motorcyclists, and wasn't his license suspended as well?

too bad like in the prison system where a parolee has a parole officer, that someone with a revoked, or suspended license (of any type from the DMV), does not have to report weekly to a DMV officer, until such a time, they can get back thier licenses.
