You didn't get jumped. You got tickled. At least I did., I crack myself up sometimes.
My purpose here is to verify stories like nawlins to try to make sure people know the suckass job they are getting into.

nawlins even agrees that its a good company to start off with, not to make a life long career out of, hince the reason he is local now???
your not getting your self into any type of crap by starting here, im a rooke still my self, only been in it a year and half, and id just like to see people be happy with a new job, go work for swift and some of the other bottem feeders that are out there, see how happy you are there, and then compare it to w.s
the only people that are truthful in the company are the reqruitors and most of the drivers, disp lies, mngmt lies, saftey lies, the " fuel man " lies, you want the truth, go to a truck stop and look for one of our drivers, i bet they wont tell you anything different then what u have read here.

Everything they told me over the phone was very consistent with what I've heard here, but I can't say anything for sure until when and if I go to W/S.

Soon2betrucking, all your post I have seen tells me one thing, you must not have bills to pay!
I bet your homebase is your moms house LOL, dude if you had a wife and kids to support i dont think you would be so gungho about what W/S pays you or any OTR company for that matter....
I worked for W/S for a full year and i resigned 1 month ago, i wasnt making any money there and i never turned down any loads and it seemed like the more crappy loads i took the more crappy loads i got as i didnt complain like all the other drivers so not turning down loads works against you too!
I only made 32,100 in the whole year i was with them and i busted my balls for them all.
I even called macon one day and told him that Levi wants me to make a 1,000 mile appointment in 24 hours and that they have no one else in the area and levi said i should know how to fix my logs to do it.Well I did turn that load down and maccon never called me back that day so i actually did turn down one load.
Thats another thing, try to get ahold of anyone during business hours, forget it after hours when your truck breaks down!
Anyway I am making allmost twice as much now to what W/S paid me but im still OTR, OTR jobs are not very high paying unless you are owner operator and still that can suck too so hang in there for awhile and get a job that your part of a union like i will do the next year or so and make $38 an hour...

Congrats on the new job. It's always good to see someone getting ahead in this industry.
Would it be improper to ask what that top-flight new company is named?

How about .31 a mile with my experience?

Or .29 a mile with my neighbors experience? Over 45 years ???

Naw'lins, your priorities will change through the years. I know that's no consultation to you now. But things will get easier. Hell, I couldn't afford to live in your area...on .50 a mile.

Several things are driving wages in the industry at the moment. #1 Being a down economy, and the flood of new drivers willing to accept anything to get in the door. #2 Baby boomers who are debt free, and able to work at reduced wages.

Even when the economy comes back, wages won't for several years. It will take 5-10 years for wages to come back into line. If they come back at all.

Economist are saying we will hit hyper inflation soon. Then, we will hit deflation shortly there after.

All that means is, you may see a small rise in your current pay during hyper inflation. But you'll see a huge pay cut, during deflation.

So get yourself prepared for even tougher times yet to come.
