    My first radio was a Johnson 23 channel. State of the art. I ran that for several years until the 40 channel rigs became common.

    I remember only 10 years ago or so you needed a cb radio just to pickup or deliver a load.The shipper/reciever would call you into a dock by way of cb. And as you approached a scale house there was a sign telling you what channel they wanted you on. Not many doing it that way anymore.

    I love it when I roll into a shipper or consignee and see their sign, "Guard Shack Monitors Channel ##" or "Check In On Channel ##"

    So, I turn the knob to that channel and nothing. I just shake my head...

    All require you to physically walk in the guard shack to check in nowadays.Nucor in Birmingham recently placed a sign outside with their phone number and stating they run channel 14.They never reply on the CB and when you call they inform you you must walk in the guard shack.
