Hey guys wanted a quick opinion on a situation I’m in. So my company is based in DFW area, had a short hop to Amarillo coming off the yard with a promised load to Florida and dispatch out. It was a nice couple of runs to get off the yard. After my Drop then grabbing the Florida PU, I got a call from my dispatcher 100 miles later asking if I’d be okay giving up the FL load for a Florida driver desperate to get home. I said “what the hell just scratch my back” well his idea of scratching my back was a load picking up on the 20th at 1400 430 DH and 1200 loaded and delivering in upstate NY in the 23rd@ 0800 3 stops. I’m not complaining about the miles or destination but This conversation happened at 12/20 1400! After I finish the driver calls thanking me giving this long sob story about his DM lying about getting him home blah blah. Anyway I told my DM i trip planned it and it’s #### near impossible but I’ll get it as close as possible and update him as I go. Long story short load cancelled. The other driver is happy and I’m at a Pilot in Dallas trying to wrestle a load out of weekend dispatch. I need opinions would you guys of taken the swap or told the dispatcher to pound sand??

You make the right decision to help out, but it didn't work out in your favor. Stuff happens.

Best I can think of is get the load swap details up front before agreeing to it.

You should have asked for a replacement load before agreeing to anything and tell them if you accept the other load you will surrender the original than you agreed to I hate to say it but this world is a dog eat dog world and people only care about themselves so be sure to protect yourself first I'm all for helping people but just make sure that you are protected first

I think you want all the information before you swap.

One time FFE Chicago called us while we were racing past Erie to escape a Ontario Ice Storm that we just escaped from Toronto and Buffalo. They said a solo is in the Detrioter and very late for Ontario (Brampton) We told them no. Wny not? Because your solo is going to be late anyway in that ice storm that is taking over this whole area. Team wont help. (Not to mention a 2500 mile paid going into Phoenix and out of winter for us, they were 100 degree days still there)

Chicago was not happy. But Phoenix was. And they put us to work out of there (Nogales) for weeks. Im sick of Nogales actually but alls well. Becareful with them swaps.

Next time Mr Desperate can fly home to Florida and come back to get the truck when hes got it out of his system.

Dallas doesn't happen to be home does it, I'd just stay there over Christmas if it is.
