Exactly what I said.... But it just seemed that they had a change of heart for some other reason. Hell, I don't need'em anyhow.
But I sure found it weird that the OWNER of the company was so "namby-pamby" about it. Hell, he even said "welcome aboard" or words similar.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Just like a 13 but you can split in the lower range. Not much use except offroad, like a log or dumptruck. Nice though. Best there is as far as I'm concerned.

Keep looking Boo,
It is somewhere out there, just hiding.
Good luck. -
Thank you, sir. I will do just that. I'm in the process of trying to move to the Phoenix area from Bumf*ck, Colorado. Hopefully, the "pickins" will be a bit better in a major metro area. Time will tell.
I would really enjoy driving about 10 days per month. More than that (or trying to make a decent living by driving full time) sux, big time.
I have to laugh at the number of noobs here who regard driving as their "dream job". Not meaing to be insulting, but the number of guys who just "love the road" is the reason why the carriers get by with abusing the drivers so easily. If someone gets PO'ed and quits there are 10 more standing in line to take his place. We are are our own worst enemy.
I used to love being in a truck stop; have some guy walk up admiring my unit and ask "What kind of engine ya have"? I would always answer "I dunno.... I think it's a diesel"!!!
A gear head I'm not.... but for those who are, Enjoy!!

I do not know what you use for search, try this one:
http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=driver&l=Phoenix
If you would like to change search area(town, state), put, for example, Colorado in that small window on top. This site show open positions from different sites, so instead of going through the monster, careerbuilder, jobsin(state)... you can see them in one place. Also, good feature of this site, it will send you new positions, which you are interested in, just put your e-mail address in that gray area at the bottom
I am considering relocation to NJ/NY/CT area or somewhere else, if I will find job. I am not driver. -
At ripe old age of 54 I'm wondering why none of my "local apps" are calling for interviews at least. Sorry to hear about the BP...maybe have MD update card ASAP and go back to Safety?? Any thoughts on work in or around St. Louis is appreciated. Decided top try to go back OTR or at least regional on a dedicated... my only problem (not health) is recent divorce is my two dogs have to go with...the two others I can ship back to her...Any thoughts that don't involve getting rid of them is appreciated.

Gonzoteamster,
Try link I gave above, just put search areaSt. Louisgonzoteamster Thanks this. -
Gonzo: I think you'll find that we older guys are largely unappreciated, expected to be unmanagable from a micromanagement standpoint, expected to be a health hazard, and not be prone to starry-eyed idealism of the noobs, believing everything and working for peanuts. So, if you didn't get called back, it may be a blessing at every stop.
I'm a 55 year old powerlifter, dancer, mechanic, inventor, construction supervisor, carpenter, and many other hats...and only Watkins Sheppard saw fit to give me a prehire...which was revoked when they had to downsize a few months back. They're hiring again, but no school reimbursement any more - you can't afford to work for them.
I'll take on any two 25 year olds lumping a wagon and probably beat them both. But I can't get hired because I'm 55.
You wouldn't like me when I'm mad...
gonzoteamster Thanks this. -
Red, I think you are partially correct about us "far over the hill" guys (strange though I never even gave it a thought that I was old until I started looking for a new job). My idealism is WAY back there, I refuse to work for peanuts but am willing to work cheaper (but only initially), and being micromanaged by half my age and far less in experience is not only a PITA but also an insult. Now the rules have changed so we either adapt or start delivering pizzas, or sell used cars until cheap SOB's realize you get what you pay for- unreliable, doesn't want to work, pain here, missed appts., freight turned over, and all the irresponsible sh@# we did before. We now realize there is a price to be paid so the company saves a penny but pays out a nickel. Sound wisdom. I also wear many hats and done a lot in my short 54 yrs. though not a powerlifter I can still pickup an average sized kid over my head just not throw them as far anymore!!! Endure this will improve hopefully soon enough to save us but keep the head held high and go down with dignity and style for that will be remembered far longer than a fool that works for nothing!!

Comes in handy occasionally when pulling off from a dead stop on a grade with some weight on. Easier on the drive train.
