I dont deny that this was his fault. I too cringed when he said he followed the gps. But you should still fight every ticket. Hopefully he learned from this.

California isnt dropping that ticket one red cent. I fought a left lane(really more like the third of 6 lanes but hey...) And the judge was so impressed by my argument than the fine went from 280 to 780 and he urged my attorney to keep talking.
Pay it and walk away.PE_T, Long FLD and BigDog Trucker Thank this. -
@kemosabi49 has as much as said the same. Drivers must pick their battles and avoid tilting at windmills. It is sad that the roads are not signed properly.
-
This is incorrect information. How lenient the judge is depends entirely on the county court office not the state you're in. LA and Orange County court offices like money. There's a good chance they'll make you pay the ticket but not have it go on your record.
-
And your comment is also misleading. As I said in an earlier post. These weight and size cases over the last few years are getting almost impossible to beat ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. The courts won't reduce or dismiss either. I would also add your last sentence is also leaving a wrong impression. You say a good chance? that should be 99% (into infinity) chance you will pay the ticket. If it goes on your record or not is not determined by if you fight the ticket or not.

I was in the San Gabriel Valley down in that area. DOT was doing an inspection on the shoulder. I moved over at the same 3 lanes of traffic tried to cross 6 lanes and take an exit 1/4 mile away. I HAD to get over to avoid killing at least a few of them. Instantly had my turn signal on to indicate I would be getting back over ASAP. Maybe 4 seconds later I got lit up.
HiPo said I should try fighting it(how about you fight the urge to ticket me instead?)... Judge basically said my explanation sounded like I was admitting to being in a lane I shouldn't have been. That was the last time I ever went to california lol -
I will add this one comment about fighting a ticket. Way back in the early 80s just after I got out of the Air Force a Georgia State trooper cited me for speeding. I was actually not speeding because he "clocked" the guy ahead of me that was. I attempted to tell the Judge my side. He totally ignored me and found me guilty. That day I determined if that ever happened again I would avail myself to my ABSOLUTE right under the Georgia state constitution to a Jury Trial. I don't think California is a state that grants Jury trials in cases like this. However, in something like this I would not try to fight it putting the outcome on a Judge. Using a Jury is the only way, in my opinion, to bring basic common sense to this almost statist money-grabbing system formally known as a courtroom.

Unless you're in Texas. The job of the jury in Texas is to convict you for whatever the government says you did.

You should have said no habla and had a translator talk about a sob story of being a refugee because you didnt have anough tamales in your village down south. The judge would have let you go and given you a free apartment. Lol.RedRover Thanks this.
