diesel in my radiator??

    This is my first post and would like to say hi to everyone on the forum:biggrin_255:...Anyways I drive a 1999 Sterling transfer dump truck. I'm running a 3406E Cat (435hp) and have found that I keep getting diesel in my radiator, but not as much radiator fluid in my diesel tanks. There was always a little problem, but recently when i added more water to the radiator i found that when the temperature reaches 210, diesel gets released from the radiator cap(where excess water gets released from) first because it's less buoyant than the water. Is there a solution to why this mixture is happening??

    P.S. It's not that much diesel, but still enough to notice.

    i dont think oil has anything to do with my situation. I have a problem with coolant and diesel mixing.

    Then most likely a head gasket problem.

    You might google the question and see what comes up.

    I missed on the cooler. I remember the event and thought it was diesel. It was oil, now that I look back.

    Diesel should never be in the cooler either.

    Could it be, (and I'm guessing here) something to do with the injector wells?

    Injector cup O-ring not an uncommon problem. I would pull all six injectors and cups and replace all cups and o-rings just to have it all covered. It probably has a few miles on it being a 99, while its apart check the injector springs they sometimes break.

    Injector cup o-rings are bad, I have heard there is a newer version now that lasts longer.

    thats what i had in mind too....for a 99 it had a little less than 400,000 miles on it.

    Almost certain it's the injector cup o-rings. Same thing happened to me on a 97 model 3406E I had.
