I don't know how you all do your job but I could never deal with rude, smart a.s.s and just plain nasty people day in and day out.
That couldn't be me. Nope!
You drivers truly have my respect.
I'd like to take a moment to thank all of the school bus, city bus and Greyhound drivers

My wife has done two of the three and I don't know how she can do it either... I'd kill 'em all.

I was a city bus driver for a year and a half.
Our unofficial motto was:
"Your Transit Authority: Keeping the maladjusted and mentally ill off the streets, 45 minutes at a time."
And MAN, do I have some stories!
The guys and gals who have been at it 25+ years are the chillest people you'll ever meet.D.Tibbitt, bzinger, Texas_hwy_287 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Greyhound drivers are injured/ killed more often than you think with these passengers.
Where do think send the crazies, inmate releases after they get out of the mental hospitals, and prison? -
Yeah some passengers will want to fight you lolD.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Metro bus drivers are generally well paid and have excellent benefits but I agree that would be a tough one. School bus drivers don’t make much and is often just part time work anyway. Greyhound or similar is just about the worst way to travel and I don’t think the drivers are paid that well.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Yeah that's messed up but c'mon she's fine. She was back on her feet and ready to scrap before the other lady even had a chance to run away completely.

My wife has been spit on, sworn at and threatened. She's had her hair pulled, been punched and other physical assaults. That's what being a transit driver is like.

In Chicago our bus drivers are behind a plastic door for protection. They make 20 something an hour, top out at 30 something, plus overtime and city benefits, but I couldn't deal. My nerves could not handle navigating around erratic pedestrians. It's regularly in the news that a truck/bus hit a bike. They zip right up to your blind spot and if you're not careful, your life is a nightmare after that.
