Reminds me of when I left my retail job, my friend in HR cashed out the last of my vacation (they normally don’t do it unless required by law), but my final check was for zero dollars because the insurance was still on there. And yes, payroll literally sent me a check for zero dollars.
I noticed the vacation paid out at your normal hourly rate. I thought is was supposed to be some average of your past 52 checks?

I thought it was supposed to be as well, apparently after I got further clarification on it, that the linehaul calculation wasn't going to happen until January, since the policy read that if I entered the job class during the year, it would be calculated in January. So, for you starting in the springtime, my understandind may be that you won't see a true linehaul vacation calculation until January of 2021.LtlAnonymous and jmz Thank this.

Funny, I'd leave and then FXF relaxes their "no bluetooth" policy...
LtlAnonymous, FlaSwampRat and Cardfan89 Thank this. -
We all know that was the least enforced policy they have.
A few weeks ago my dispatcher called me three times before I could pull over and call him back. He was genuinely pissed that I didn’t answer.
Even now that it’s officially allowed I still won’t get one. I don’t see the point when I drive less than 150 miles a night.LtlAnonymous, Digman943 and McUzi Thank this. -
it certainly was. Although I tended to view it as a written policy for FXF to wash their hands if a driver was on the phone while plowing into a bus full of nuns.
I wouldn’t answer a call from anyone other than friends or family. I always ignored supervisor or hub based phone calls.
“Why’d you make us wait on you just to decline that via?”
“We’re trying time plan kick outs etc.”
Wasn’t my problem. I always hoped they’d get frustrated and kick someone out below me and give me an easy mileage claim.LtlAnonymous, Gearjammin' Penguin and Digman943 Thank this. -
What's your new company's policy? I understand where these companies are coming from but blanket no phone/Bluetooth rules are a bit absurd to me.LtlAnonymous and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this.

New company’s policy is zero use of a cell phone in any capacity unless parked safely and legally, the brakes are set and truck isn’t in gear.
I used to think that it was a bit overreaching while I was at FXF, but now in a capacity where a bad accident involving one of my new company’s vehicles can have considerably greater damaging impact to a larger zone... I get it. I can imagine why the company would take such a stance when you have people pulling tanks of anhydrous ammonia.
One major difference, however, is this new company includes route navigation and workflow management through the tablet.LtlAnonymous, FlaSwampRat and dwells40 Thank this. -
I don't see the difference. An accident that kills a single person isn't ok, so safety rules are pretty universal.
Personally I think if they don't trust the driver to operate safely they shouldn't hire the driver, but whatever.
So no music from the phone while driving?LtlAnonymous and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
Of course that one persons life lost in an accident isn’t ok, the point I’m making is that a serious enough accident from a chemical tanker has larger potential to kill many more lives and damage a lot more property, so while I can understand the policy, I don’t necessarily agree with it.
The reality is, we live in a hyper litigious society so companies feel they have to take some kind of effort to mitigate accidents, regardless of how safe the driver is.LtlAnonymous and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Another week, another nice check for some of the easiest work I’ve ever had. I did my usual two turns with three hours of dock work each night, plus an extra turn at the end of one night. I spent a total of 43.5hrs at work between on duty and driving time.
