The Dodge’s cummins 5.9 is rated for 66,000 lbs back in 1986...

So the Dodge can pull that easily and with the van trailer fully loaded.
Just have to install an air compressor, which can work with the Cummins, a treadle valve, a few air tanks, several train horns to warn people of a “massive” load coming their way....

I don’t remember a Silverado having airbrakes!

Article said he rigged up some kind of mechanism to activate the trailer brakes.

There was a 2001 Dodge Cummins in my home town a few years ago.
That truck has a full working air braking system for trailers and works off of the brake pedal lever or something to make it work.
Has a mechanical compressor and air tank.
The pickup still has its regular hydraulic brakes.
So this can be done.
