We have a laydown run that's 3008 miles that runs at night you can run it using 55 hours on duty a week. Pays 2300+ a week. Daytime runs definitely take longer. Our trucks run 68-69, no run here should take 65+ as long as you keep the door shut.

City can make good money too-----top check in post #859 is proof. It was 54 hours, but how many hours of linehaul would you have to do to match/exceed it?

And i'm not even a good example of high pay because i tend to pass a lot to the junior drivers especially linehaul, but also city----i'll pass on the early morning stuff.

    1) The latest one is lame AF for the YTD. i think i worked 4 days city then one day road. In all fairness in regards to the YTD, i do pass a lot and that does lower the YTD. i pass alot because i don't want to get burnt out. For instance, i passed twice this past week and that was like giving up $500 or so. Makes a difference for the YTD. There will be, i think, one more check. The YTD will still be lame though.

i am pretty much done with linehaul because new bids start this week. i will probably not be able to completely get away from it as at my terminal extraboard city has to cover road if there are no extraboard road drivers available to cover it or they themselves are covering an assigned road run. (other terminals have dock+cdl drivers cover road runs). i'm ok with this as every now and then is ok and it will give me variety.

The bottom line is when i said linehaul was better than sex, that is complete giraffe plop. i only said it back then because the money was real good and there's no work involved----you just show up and get paid.

    2)

Very sorry about the slow response----was very busy. Perhaps that's a good thing?

    $85,136.43:(

That was LAME AF. Again, i apogle and will try to do better this year.

    a) i did, however, break several personal records----Most made at one job---$77K from 69K. And most made overall----85K from 81K.
    Still lame however.

    2) This CANNOT be construed at what an average linehaul driver at UPSF might make. In fact, it's quite laughable compared to what most linehaul drivers here make----likely 100K and above---without needing to work another or 2 other jobs........

    a) Now, i think the reason for the lameness, is with me, i do pass a lot---because i didn't want to get burnt out. There were/are guys below me in seniority and i often pass to them.

    3) Again, i must re-iterate that when i said this job was better than sex, that was complete bullfeathers.
Yes, the "work" itself (it IS NOT work) is wonderful-----i just show up, get paid, and drive around all night eating and listening to podcasts. That's it. Totally low stress/no stress/no pressure. Except for the rare occasions where i fill in for someone doing niteliner.

BUT the nightwork may likely really mess you up----physically and more even importantly neurologically.

i have switched back to city. More on this soon, maybe.
