Beware of of the Trucking Program at Fort Scott Community College.
The housing for Trucking Students is in Nasty low income apartments.
There is Lots of Illegal Drug activity every night from the local renters.
The Driving Instructors are Totally Unprofessional, they have no Patience and constantly yell and cuss at the students.
The Classroom Instructor is an overweight Grouch that would actually fall asleep while he was talking. One afternoon he dozed off in the middle of talking and when he finally woke up he was mumbling about Snickers bars.
The Trucks that they use for driving training are old pieces of Junk.
The drivers seat on my truck was broken and would flop all over the place.
The Truck used at the backing range actually had two flat tires on the right side on the trailer. They didnt care about the flats "because the truck doesnt see highway use."
I believe the College itself is good, but the Trucking program is only an afterthought that gets very little funding.
If you are thinking about attending the Trucking Program at Fort Scott, I would strongly advise against it.

I also overheard the Instructors belittling other students behind their backs while at the backing range.
The other students told me that they heard the same comments about me when I was in the truck.

Training is not supposed to be easy. It's like boot camp, as well it should be.... Weed out all the sissy's
Your going into an area of long hours, no showers, away from home for many weeks, traffic, warehouse managers with attitudes...etc...
On the other hand, there is alot of abuse to drivers today, and the economy doesn't help. This is why ,I don't drive today.
Sorry, your stay at school sucked... but, look at it positively !
Stay Frosty -
Trust me, I'm no sissy.
I'm just trying to warn other potential drivers, life is too short to waste your time at that school.Last edited: Aug 2, 2009

I forgot another thing...
One driving instructor told my roommate that they used to help the students cheat to get their permits. He said that they had both versions of the written test.
The State must have found out, because the school isn't allowed to administer the permit test anymore. They have to take the students to the DMV. -
Also... They stuffed in at least 3 students per Truck, so you get very little actual driving time.

Hell,... We had 4-5 students..... The instructor didn't know "Who was smoking the joint", and one girl was showing her stuff !!
I can't wait until my, "refresher course" -

So, did you graduate with honors, or what?
