I've had to pull out trailer registration twice this year. Banning, CA wanted to see it during an inspection, and a DPS officer in TX wanted to see it regarding an accident (trailer tire blowout and FedEx jack-knifed into the median a couple minutes afterwards, evidently a piece of tire struck his tractor...).

I've been inspected a few times when I noticed to cop writing the trailer vin numbers down off of the trailer ID plate. I sure they probably ran the numbers. But have never been asked for registrations except once on a military base.

In South Dakota and Nebraska, they have wanted to see the registration every single time.

I had a laborer get a seatbelt ticket and the cop wrote down the trailer plate. I got his ticket beat. Lol.

Too bad I don't have any property, I've always wanted to build a house by burying trailers (think Luke's farm in Star Wars.) I could probably make a nice sprawling 5 bedroom with half the trailers ditched at my client's.

Also, I posted this going INTO the property this morning, when I left there were another 4-6 trailers.

Property owner needs to learn about filing for an abandoned or bonded title in that state. They also need to know the state laws on charging storage fees. Most states regulate it, so places cant charge outrageous amounts to aquire vehicles.

If those trailers are in their way, I know a place that they can park them

Anytime I have been stopped for any little thing I have had to get the trailer reg out of the box
They would love to find you with no paperwork and get more brownie points
Your cop must have had a call to get to

I use different trailers everyday and this thread reminds me to check for trailer registration more often.
