They really aren't much harder than dry van. Usually, if you hook to a loaded trailer, it's already running and set at temp. If not, theres a control panel on front, with a pretrip test sequence. It takes about 10 mins to run. Just push some buttons til you find it. They make it easy, because we are just dumb truckers, ya know. Fueling isnt difficult, they know we need diesel first, then def. Then just like with def, it waits for you to pick up the handle again. Just pull forward until you can see that the front of your skirts are even with the pump. Easy stuff. And yeah, be sure and fill it and wash it out before you drop it empty somewhere, as per company policy. My company has an account with blue beacon, so I just pull into any available one and they just wash it out and charge the company. I dont even have to keep the receipt or report it on my trip sheet. I keep a broom for times when I cant find an open washout. If you didnt have meat in it, the company probably wont be stressed about it. Like, christmas, all blue beacons were closed...

Lets see here. There is this doohicky called a Bill of lading and another thing called a whatyacallit that is also called a dispatch. They tell you to set that thingajigger at a certain temp and let that sucker run. Then you go back in over yonder and a dude on a thingamabob will load you. Oh and ask that dummy you call a dispatcher how to buy gojuice for that thing.

Get that reefer experience; finish your contract with PAM, then move on to a good reefer outfit.
We can give you suggestions when you're ready.

    Nothing like fueling reefer
    In sub zero temps
    In high winds
And it takes 10 minutes to pump 5 gallons.

    D.Tibbitt and tscottme Thank this.

Verify temperature and settings cycle or continuous .. DO your temp checks every time you stop also if setting is cycle and outside temperature is close to set temperature either do a defrost or turn it to continuous and after it starts up back to cycle . This will keep batteries charged up properly . I’ve seen so many guys with dead batteries because they didn’t realize that it doesn’t start up till temp is out of range ..PS if you have issues call your dispatch ASAP or minor questions can be asked here on this site . Other than a few jokers there are many great people willing to help others with advice..

I’m not going to survive that long, I’m averaging 300 a week. This is just to get me by until I hit my 90 day mark when a couple companies are interested in me.

You’re running a wAllyworld account and making only $300 a week? You’re getting ripped. Someone is making that money.

Reefers magically pump fuel at the DC. Don’t even have to turn the pump on.

Then you just have to find the off switch on the reefer after delivering.
