I've been running a KW 660 and it rides nice and pulls like mad. God bless Cummins.
There are some rub spots, for sure, and March was a really poor month in terms of miles for me, but I've gotten the lay of the land, and found out how to get my concerns addressed. It's not as if Jesus Christ himself is running a trucking company here, but like I said, I'm getting paid.
I got used to the e-logs, too. I like it better than paper.
As stated by others, though, the whole thing hangs on your dispatcher. My guy's great.
EDIT: I'm sure somebody will accuse me of whitewashing Marten. I know that I might sound like a recruiter spy, or something, but really I think my see-the-positive take on these boards and in life in general is a result of all the crying that I hear other drivers do. I don't hang out it terminals long if I can help it. Drivers in a sour mood always make me grumpy by extension. It's a contact high (or low), so to speak. There are some legit complaints that can be made about Marten, but to hear some of my coworkers tell it, somebody's out for their blood, personally...but then they turn right around and laugh about what jerks they're being to their dispatchers and everybody else. Newsflash: it's possible to make yourself heard and get what you need without being an irascible #######. I know if I was up in Mondovi, tracking 70 trucks, the rude, disrespectful, demanding and recalcitrant drivers would be really tempting to put at the bottom of the "I-Care-About-You" list.
Case in point: I was late getting home by over a week three times in a row. Instead of working up my ire and screaming at somebody, I took some time to get my ire out of my system before calling my dispatcher. We talked about it. I made sure he knew that I was really unhappy with getting home late, and he made sure I knew what he needed from me to correct the issue. Since then, voila! Problem solved.Last edited: May 1, 2010

Well I would really have serious thoughts about Martin, I am calling the driver (RECRUITER) a Lier that has a 660 Marten don't have any company trucks in the fleet with that size Motor, 64.8 is top speed.
Marten did not get as big as they are because of their Reputation but because they went public on their stock..Gluvs -

It's got a Cummins ISX 450 (or 455, I forget) in it.
And by the way, it's a comment on why so many drivers end up in crappy situation after crappy situation. I'm saying something mildly positive about my job. Automatically I'm a liar or a company stooge? When did appreciating your job become incredible?
There's 2600 odd drivers at Marten, which basically amounts to 2600 different versions of Marten Transport Ltd. I'm doing all right for myself here, but I'm not nearly dumb enough to tell everybody they need to drop their coffee and come apply. It's not going to be the right place for everybody, and not by a long shot. Single perspective thinking is what makes people think truckers are arrogant, narrow-minded jerks. -
