I have aluminum side rails too. But I also have a LOT of steel. Maybe it has to do with the coil package? I have no idea. I just know that the all the great dane, fontaine, and Utility combo units I looked at had steel frames, crossmembers, front plates, drop plates, 2 strips down the middle of the decks, and under the outer rails where the aluminum deck attaches to the crossmembers. That's why I use that steel on steel area for attaching straps and chains when I can. Yea those new trailers are LIGHT..

But back to the original topic. The real reason rates are tanking is because of ME!
Snatched this RGN load going to NM last week.
If it fits, IT SHIPS....sirjeff and Landincoldfire Thank this. -

you sure it's not because trucking is a race to the bottom? Quit hauling freight for such cheap rates! Let it rot at the shipper's dock until it pays better!

I'm just poking fun. I've bought the wrong size by accident. Went to put it on and said this isn't gonna work and dug out the old one.Last edited: Dec 31, 2019

Another more recent idea, in the name of safety is setting up rows of scaffolding on each side of the trailer as "safety platforms" for the unloaders to be able to step away from the load when the crane is making a pick...blairandgretchen and Razororange Thank this. -
