    Truck Stop is the LAST place I want to be in my moho with my family at night. Diesel and Dump, maybe a meal if the time of day and restaurant is right. I agree, There are Walmart and Casinos to boondock at, and Casinos usually have good food.

    Cracker Barrel too. Love the food. If Cracker Barrel started truck stops, drivers would definitely eat better.

    Seen at least 3 truck stops I used to run by & the whole back row was rv's with their grills set up & all. People too cheap to pay or find another place. The managers would go run them off after a few days & more would show up.

    A few days??!! No way would I do that, few hours if the stop is right go in and eat other wise eat out of the trailer, and that depends on other factors such as fuel and all the other stuff. Never a few days.

    Probably won’t get a lot of sympathy in here but if you insist on parking at crappy mega-chain truckstops with your camper, many of them have RV parking spots and/or a car lot big enough to causally find a hidey hole in the corner of.

    I personally try avoid parking in the big truck lot as much as possible when I am hauling RV’s with my F-350 for danger of getting swiped by some two week wonder in his Swift truck, but when I do I am very careful about spot selection. Kind of a grey area. But he was obviously RVing rather than trucking.

    Ok fine I buy a 18 wheeler and rig out as a RV grossing 55000 and take a rig spot lol. I could stay for a month.

    //sarc.

    The problem is this. Truckstops are gone. I know of a few, but they are on their way out. Its all travel center now. any and all can come and go with whatever horse they came on in.

    I always wanted to pick up a bed buggers drop deck van and build a mobile mansion out of it, complete with slide outs, and be able to load a suv in the rear. I always thought it would make a great retirement rig.

    I've thought about the same thing could make a nice size house area with garage and storage. Thing that hung me up at one point was DMV because they considered over 500 sqft a mobile home rather than rv Toy haulers/garages weren't a big thing when I kicked it around so that could have all changed. I had a 5th wheel that was 499.5 sqft they built to dodge that at the time.
