I went from dry van 500 truck company 65mph to a 10 truck conestoga local company governed 85mph, it's great to be able to get out of the pack and actually do the speed limit!!

I had a FM tell me that our company wants us to wear seat belts even in truckstops while backing into spots because we could get hit by another vehicle and that could end in tragedy lol

Maybe driving slower doesn't save very much fuel tank to tank, but it adds up in the end. I've gone from 5.8 with this Cummins to 7.1. Some of it has to do with not idling and some has to do with the fact I'm not out running 75-80mph all day long. At slower speeds I also have time to gawk at some of the old sheet metal rusting away and dream about rescuing it.

Idling does eat into the fuel mileage pretty good, but it's better than freezing. Doing 80 all day will too but you cover a lot more road too. About 73 is a good speed, you're going fast enough to keep your mind from wandering too much and don't do too horrible for fuel mileage.

    Upinsmoke and Digger130 Thank this.
