    You shouldnt waste the emergency rooms time for something like a drug test. People need it if they have a real emergency. The wait times are already long enough

    You're right, they have the kits. They won't use them for a driver's drug/alcohol testing though. Emergency stuff only.
    I asked this question of a friend of ours, a doctor who works the ER and he went on a ten minute rant about people who use the ER for non emergencies. The rant was interesting...he knew more cuss words than a lot of loggers.

    Like the email says with the letter...When you get this email you need to go and do a drug test..so call your company and they should give you an list of places that do the testing..you are off duty with home time so it can wait.also remember when you do take the test you must show on duty taking drug test on your ELD.

    did he rant about the homeless drunks that hang out in the ER area s well?

    When we had to go to the ER a few months ago, there was a homeless drunk, walking around the halls, spewing lewd remarks to some of the nurses.

    why security never tossed him out on his arse, is beyond me.

    wait times are dependent on the time of day, and day of the week.

    I have been in the ER during peak friday night hours, and it was jammed.

    i have been in the ER during peak saturday night hours and it was jammed

    I have been in the ER on saturday mornings, sunday mornings, and during the week, and it was all clear.

    population, and the animals wreaking havoc are dependent on the area.

    i need NOT be told how busy an ER can be.

    did i even tell the o/p to go during peak hours?

    if so, please quote me where i said that.

    I'm having a hard time understanding those saying to go anywhere for a test. If he goes on his time off it's invalid, has to be immediately before/after safety sensitive function. It's alcohol test, not drug test.

    Safety-sensitive function means all time from the time a driver begins to work or is required to be in readiness to work until the time he/she is relieved from work and all responsibility for performing work. Safety-sensitive functions shall include:

    (1) All time at an employer or shipper plant, terminal, facility, or other property, or on any public property, waiting to be dispatched, unless the driver has been relieved from duty by the employer;

    (2) All time inspecting equipment as required by §§392.7 and 392.8 of this subchapter or otherwise inspecting, servicing, or conditioning any commercial motor vehicle at any time;

    (3) All time spent at the driving controls of a commercial motor vehicle in operation;

    (4) All time, other than driving time, in or upon any commercial motor vehicle except time spent resting in a sleeper berth (a berth conforming to the requirements of §393.76 of this subchapter);

    (5) All time loading or unloading a vehicle, supervising, or assisting in the loading or unloading, attending a vehicle being loaded or unloaded, remaining in readiness to operate the vehicle, or in giving or receiving receipts for shipments loaded or unloaded; and

    (6) All time repairing, obtaining assistance, or remaining in attendance upon a disabled vehicle.

    The testing company replied to my email:

    “HI Paul,

    Give us a call when you come back from vacation and I will register you for your random BAT test in 2-minutes. You have 1-90 days to comply but I would highly recommend that you get this done as soon as possible.”

    No big deal

    You should have got the test kits at the same time you signed up with drug test co. You the driver should have a test kit with you in truck, if you get into a acc, god forbid, when you show up to test site out of state watching the clock and dont have kit with your co. name and info typed on it you will be in for a long wait till some one from your home base to fax paper part to test site?

    so now, the next time, you will know as they said, you DO have 90 days. leave a "paper trail" that you contacted them, as proof if ever you need it.
