How can they put a speeding as a inspection violation?

They can do it by dividing distance traveled by the time logged. They were doing it with paper logs too. It is not the same as a moving violation aka speeding ticket tough.

Mine actually said "speeding 0-5 over limt"

DOT can pull you over for speeding, and use it as a reason for inspection.

    PE_T Thanks this.

That's based on their average calculation. E.g. everyone is going more than 55 mph in CAL on I 40 but if you show in the log book that you left Barstow, CA and arrived in AZ scale within 2.5 hours than it is asking for a speeding violation.

Hold on, so let's say you get a speeding ticket, it goes on your level 3 inspection list and you also get a regular citation for speeding, then you go to court, officer does not show up, regular ticket gets drop and now you can challenge the speeding violation on your level 3 inspection?

Bean Jr. and PE_T Thank this.

Then it was a regular speeding ticket that they can list on the Inspection report too.
They can give you speeding violation without clocking but simply calculating average speed shown in the log book, which is not the same as a regular speeding ticket that would go against your MVR. At least, as far as I know.

For example, if your log book shows an average speed above the speed limit in California between Barstow, CA - Needles, CA, you can still get a speeding violation on your DOT inspection report in Iowa.

Now, with the output file they can see exactly at what speed you were traveling at any given point...so I was told by KeepTruckin rep.

ELD is not only about 4 lines any more, it is recording every fart you make. Honestly, I had no prior knowledge of it, until they updated the AOBRD to ELD. AOBRD was not that bad.

Yeah I think you're right on that. Luckily he just gave me a warning on the speed, but the a hole did a full level 1 while he had me. Found no Violations on my truck and trailer or paperwork so he made sure he listed the speed warning. Kinda dirty trick in my opinion.

Click on a previous day’s log and email it to yourself. Then you will see what all is sent when you email it to an officer.
