I've been driving since I was 22 when i bought my first brand new Peterbuilt and lost my ###..lol After over a million miles I took a break and been out of commission since 2008 because of career switch but recently re-acquired my cdl, hazmat and twic card and ready to put some miles down. Im looking toward somebody that has a small number of trucks but thats not a deal breaker..just scared to jump in to a large company that wont live up to their word, just need to make some money fast and dont mind running hard to make somebody some money me included. I know the business Im 58 now and its not my first rodeo, Im in great shape so a little hard work isn't going to kill me either . Let me know there still some decent trucking companies out there because i dont like to switch companies very often, if you help me save some aggravation I will be sure to return the favor monetarily or otherwise..

Elliott Truck Line out if Vinita, Oklahoma. I've been here since July. It's a mix of liquid bulk and dry bulk. Custom Commodities, Gilmer TX, owns us and loads can crisscross once in a while. I like it. - Elliott Truck Line

Kenan Advantage Group, KAG. I've been with them for four years now, and have no intention of leaving until retirement (I also am an older man). They're great, and working hard top to bottom to continually improve. They are a big company, but most of the "feel" of the company, to the drivers, comes at the terminal level. Pay and benefits have been very good. Quality of equipment is very good, and improving as they limit all trucks to five years or less. They have a fuels terminal in Kansas City. Or do anhydrous ammonia, running between TX and IA. Terminal is in Great Bend, KS, but they might let you park the truck at that fuels terminal in KC for home time. Great gig. Good money, easy work. It's mostly just about how many miles you can knock out in a day. Apply at TheKAG.com for either position.

12 years out of the saddle might be a problem. No way to check your recent driving record, which all trucking companies want. But might try applying to KAG and see what happens. If you keep getting rejected, might have to take any trucking job you can get, just to get a year of experience on your record, then try applying again for hazmat tanker. Maybe you could spend a year with Swift or similar company -- bypass the training (since you already have your CDL) and go straight to ride along with another driver, then solo. A drag to have to go through that, with all of your experience, but just to get yourself back into the system it might be necessary.
