Hi everyone and thanks in advance for your help.
I'm single with no family obligations. I don't mind being out for extended periods of time and although I have no CDL I like driving. I like solitude too.
I could go anywhere in the country, I've got nothing keeping me where I'm at.
If you were in my shoes, absolute beginner, what would you do?

    Get started ASAP!
Where is your location; state & nearest city?
Do you want to attend a private cdl school or trucking company cdl school?

    lerner Thanks this.

@ethos suggested tankers and Schneider has that for OTR, plus cdl school.
There's more choices such as dry van and refrigerated that hire NYC students for training.

As I always tell drivers that want to relocate; Texas, Nevada, Florida. No personal state income taxes and in Nevada no food taxes.

Is it better to just go into some specialization after CDL training (tanker or flatbed)? I was told to pursue this as quickly as possible to avoid wasting time.

Main goal is to get your cdl then around 12 mos. experience. By then you'll know what type trucking you want to continue the career.
