No! I have my privacy settings set and to be honest, there is no need so let us leave this in the open so anybody else later can see the info.

I have epilepsy and the Hampton Virginia VA hospital handles my medical care. My neurologist at a local civilian hospital put in a referral for this sleep study.

If you desire a VA sleep study make an appointment with your VA PCP (primary care provider) and during the exam ask them to place this referral through the community care office unless your VA hospital does them. The VA also will give you a CPAP if you have OSA. before too much longer the VA will be able to do DOT physicals. This is why I beg and plead with veterans to get with the VA.

If you are a veteran and are not registered with the VA I HIGHLY recommend you do so ASAP. You do not have to be service-connected right now. Even in Group 8, you can get these tests done. Just make sure you are an Honorably discharged Veteran and have a copy of your 214. that is all you need.

    • My only concern with this strategy is you are going to have to tell your primary that you are having sleep apnea related issues to get the referral you would need.
This pretty much will guarantee you will be leaving the sleep study with a CPAP machine and will be marked with sleep apnea on your CDL for ever more.
If you are having apnea symptoms than that’s a great way to go.
but if your just trying to get a company required sleep study payed for it could bite you in the ###.

If your DOT doc wants you to get a sleep study, then it must be done. They may still have your records on file, they may not. But if your company sends you there, they may for it.

The new DOT regs have all of us in a database now. If you go to one doc, they have to put that info in a database that all other DOT docs have to access to make sure your not just doctor shopping.

Go, and see what they say. If you have to get it done then you have to get it done or not drive anymore.

Some companies don't require a new physical, but the ones I know of are OTR.

I currently have a 2-year card. If I switch jobs and the new DOT doctor only gives a one-year, does my 2-year get taken away?
