What is up with the people selling pillows at the truck stops? I understand the guys selling DVD's, but pillows? Is that just cover for selling something else?

It's just another way for guys to pawn off cheap crap that they buy for $2.00 and sell for $20.00 and not pay taxes on. Who knows what those pillows are stuffed with and I don't wanna know.

I bought a couple of those pillows once.
They started off huge and were nearly flat within a couple weeks.

I remember when it was tools for a while. Cheap crap too.
I agree with Nevada Bob, but also think there is the possibility of the occasional stolen import container having it's contents "distributed" around the country.

Truck Drivers Buy stuff. I actually bought 2 pillows once and still have them as well as a calculator. I've bought/sold load locks/cb's/beer coolers whatever. But , I won't buy prepared food as in, The Bar-b-Q man there at the Petro in Little Rock, Ar or the tamale lady in Anthony, Tx. No how, no way.....:biggrin_25512:

I heard a woman selling pillows on the radio. I too was skeptical. She pulled into the truckstop in a little pickup, and so I got out and checked them out. They were very nice pillows...about 3 feet in length. Held on to those pillows for years until i retired from the bigroad.

I'll tell you from many years experience you are missing some of the best
pulled pork Q on the planet.
He has an actual store front just down from the TS and has a faithful following.

His $5.00 sandwich's are so big you can barely close the lid on those
take-out containers. The food is fresh, everything is sold that day.
The later in the early evening it gets the better the deals are.

You really should try his product next chance you get, again his reputation over the many years is very solid. If there were any problems he couldn't have stayed in business as long as he has.

Oh man, I forgot all about her. I haven't been west of Sweetwater in a few years.
    Sounds like she's still there.

Bought a couple plates from him. A pulled pork plate and full slab. Had to get back on the radio and give the guy a shout out. Great food and great value.

Went up to that Pilot on 95 (exit 40?) in Conneticut. Theres a Cracker Barrel a couple blocks over. I walked up to the Barrel and got some lunch. Heard this guy on the radio, "BigD", selling food. Grown men were screaming his name. I figured the food had to be good. I called him out and he rolled up and brought me a plate. Big guy jumps out of a minivan wearing chef's attire. Food was so good that I was almost in tears. BigD got back on the radio and said that he had 3 more plates left and some desserts. I had to get another and a dessert (and I dont normally eat desserts).

That BigD made me hurt myself. But it was good!

i would advise anyone not to do it.

Instead, save up for a Tempur-pedic pillow. They cost around $120, but they're #### worth it.
