I don't think you are required to display your KYU number anymore. We do though, just to keep from getting hassled in KY.

What markings must be on a CMV?
From small to large carriers and in mixed fleets, know the marking requirements.
Updated March 6, 2019
The basics:
The marking requirements for Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) are found in §390.21. The markings need to be displayed on both sides of the vehicle, including:
- The legal name or single trade name of the company operating the vehicle, and
- The motor carrier identification number, issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), preceded by the letters “USDOT.” Other points:
- Letters to be in “sharp” contrast to the background
- Be readily legible, during daylight hours, from a distance of 50 feet
Information from JJ KellerBig_D409, Rideandrepair, PE_T and 3 others Thank this. -
Yep, just the name and USDOT are required. Letters should be at least 2''

And it has to be a contrasting paint visible in large enough font typicially seen at 100 feet or more if necessary such as might be found at scale houses. The law says 50 foot, but I rather just go over and above with paint to avoid hassled like m16ty stated.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Sharp contrast.
Have to laugh at that.
Note that a number of law enforcement agencies are now marking their vehicle with almost no contrast.
Two shades different at best.ChevyCam, spyder7723, Big_D409 and 4 others Thank this. -
I copied the mega company I used to belong to. They did not have the MC# nor the KYU. I have never been bothered for not having them.
Truck doors: Full legal name of the company as it appears on your MCS-150.
Driver side box door: City and state; USDOT; and GVW
Passenger side box door: City and state; USDOT; GVW; and last 8 digits of VIN.Rideandrepair and Dino soar Thank this. -
If I put my phone# all the Women would be calling, all hours of day and night. I’d never get any sleep.Lol. I wouldn’t mind the chance to defend a complaint, first hand, from a finger wielding 4 wheeler, though.Hulld, Dino soar, DieselDrivinDaddy and 2 others Thank this.

The fire extinguisher inside thing, has often been a debate. I didn’t get it again this time. Door needs a key to open, mine would need to also read, key in ignition,Lol. I keep one in the Truck, also, in the sleeper. And it’s not mounted, it’s readily available, if needed. The memory of an old timer, once describing how he woke up, Truck in flames. New Truck had to have a door, or at least a window he could kick out!!!! His eyes were aglazed, as he told of the close call!! Funny, but not really!!!
