Hey guys just seeing if any of you are driving one or the other and can tell me if they are solid trucks to haul with?

I would stick with a 2018 or older RAM if it was me. Cummins used the older CP3 high pressure fuel pump on those and they have a better track record AFAIK. The Fords all use the CP4 and some guys have gotten stuck with large repair bills on those. The 2019+ RAM’s also use it now. (GM I believe switched to a Denso system on their latest Duramax motors but also used the CP4 until that point.)

Just pay attention to what you see as far as hot shot trucks go. 90% I see on the road are Cummins including mine so yeah a bit bias but my 2001 was worked like a dog and never left me stranded. So far done 50k miles on my new truck and only issue was the weak dual mass flywheel. I was still able to drive it just had to float shift it to finish my deliveries. So no expensive tow needed. Swapped the flywheel out for a more traditional single mass flywheel and dual disk clutch and truck has been happy.

I'm a diehard manual dude myself but I would have to say the Aisin is the way to go on these newer ones. Just needs the oil changed more often. Problem with the little truck manuals is reverse is geared way to high for backing up, and generally speaking the forward ratios are not ideal for heavy GCVW. LOW is too low and 1st is too high for any trailer heavier than like 5-6k is what I ran into pulling RV's with my 7.3/ZF6 2wd DRW. But reverse was the really aggravating part with anything heavier than that.

You are 100% correct. The reverse is annoying. I just want to know what heck heck was the engineer thinking who decided to put such a tall reverse gear, I hate it. Also I agree the Aisin is the way to go for the new rams. The reason I have a standard transmission is because I bought the truck used and being a 2wd truck with a standard the dealer just had no luck selling it so they had to keep dropping the price. I paid 37k for a 2017 dually with 12k miles on the clock. If I was buying new it would be with a Aisin for sure. All in all truck has been pretty good to me, the reverse gear is my biggest complaint.

This is the truck. Bought in may with 12k, currently has 63k. Only issue was the dual mass flywheel failed at 24k
