HOW TO GET IT HOME, 2013 DD13 presumably DPF restricted or plugged

    I've got a 2013 Cascadia tractor with DD13 & manual 10 speed transmission near Fort Wayne Indiana that can't go over 25 mph, I need to get it to Houston. My driver has got 2 road side services to look at the truck, neither has a scantool. First ######## disconnected the speed sensor and the truck runs better for a tiny little while charged me $150, second ######## said 99% it's the fuel filters charged $75 service call plus $2 per mile for 81 miles to come look at the truck.

    The truck repeatedly goes into regen trying to clear the blockage but the problem persists, I have not found a competent shop around there to fix it. I don't mind paying a fair charge for proper repairs but don't know who to trust and where to go. Any idea? Truck has only 400k miles very clean.

    Get it towed to the Freightliner dealership in Ft. Wayne. Pay your drivers hotel and breakdown pay and get it fixed. No real need to "get it home"
    Or fly your driver home if it's going to take awhile...

    Engines already derated to an extent if I’m not mistaken, can’t do anything until it regenerates, no amount of anything can fix it until codes are cleared, scan tool needed to clear codes. If you keep driving it will go to 5pmh (limp mode).

    Sorry to tell you but 2013 Cascadia is piece of ### all major trucking companies already get rid of them because of constant problems. I would suggest to buy deinstallation kit on Ebay and disconnect EGR system. My cousin did it on his Volvo. But I don't know for sure about Cascadia. The best you can do is to sell it and buy some glider with out egr and edf systems . That is all I can tell you.

    This is about your only real option besides getting a rental and/or selling it where it finally stops.

    Really guys? I was hoping for some creative ideas not the defeatist drumbeat. I'm going to fly up there and bring the truck home, it will get home by driving normally.

    There's a dealer at New Haven, IN, inside the 469 bypass loop. Stoops Truck Country.

    I was at the location in Fremont, IN. They were very good. I'm not thinking it's possible to drive it very far without fixing it. Can be towed or hauled on a lowboy as far as you want. Providing it's not too tall loaded.

    It sounds like the only option is find someone who has the tool to clear the codes and make it do a forced regen. A friend of mine was having similar problems with his 579 Pete. The tool can be purchased on Amazon for $500 . Kinda pricey but cheaper than a couple of service calls.

    Your best bet is to find a scan tool and get it to regen.....
    But since you’ve been burned twice already. Here is something you can try, I have had some success for short times in pinches. But this is at your own peril, here is the disclaimer: “I have not had a catastrophic failure from this, but that doesn’t mean you won’t.”
    Since you have already had the speedo sensor disconnected this might work.
    Have your driver try this. Have him gear down until he can put/keep the engine as loaded as possible as fast as possible and as close to max RPM’s as possible. Have him hold (drive) at that RPM (speed) for at least 20 minutes up to or preferably 1 hr. (This will probably bore the crap out of him) He will need to find a stretch of road that will allow him to not have to slow down or stop. If he gets in a situation where it feels like the power is coming back. (Maybe the de-rate lets off) Have him drive at close to max RPM for around 5-10 minutes and Jake it down with his RPM’s as high as he can keep them to as slow as he can. And repeat the Jake sequence 2- 3 times. If you have a DPF regen issue, this should get it to temp and get it to regen. The Jake sequence part helps clean/unplug the DOC. Get them both cleared a little bit, and he/she might be able to get it on home.

    But again, you best and safest bet is find a mechanic with a computer with Detroit software.
